Haland made his senior debut for Molde when Solskjaer was coaching them. In January he moved to Red Bull Salzburg but just played one game last season. He is their main striker now since Dabbur joined Sevilla. He has scored 11 goals and 3 assists in 7 games. Red Bull are by far the best team in Austria but these stats are still very impressive if you consider his age. Will be interesting to see him in the Champions League this year. Definitely a player to watch.

His finishing is his USP, but the mixture of technique and pace is what makes him stand-out if you consider his height.

Haland made headlines over the summer when he scored nine goals in a single game in the FIFA U20 World Cup, during a 12-0 win over Honduras.

I remember that. The lad is an absolute unit!

So he's half English?

I was thinking he had Norwegian parents who lived in England or something. He's got footballing genes then.

Nope, his father Alf-Inge Håland played for Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City so he kinda lived in England for a few years from when he was born.

I see.

And the Austrian league is decent as a starting point.

Sadio Mane played there for a while, Klopp nearly brought him to Dortmund when Sadio was still in Austria.

Austria league...c´mon

true but RB really does have an exceptional eye for talents, in few years they brought out talents like Mané, Keita or Upamecano and many others mostly scouted in 2nd or 3rd divisions or in countries with small football leagues.
And they sell at least 3 of those players every year for double digit millions to first division clubs in big leagues. Those talents are nothing to scoff at.

This narrative that we should only go for talents in top 5 leagues needs to die. We literally just got de jong from the netherlands, which is about the same level austria and Belgium. Where do you think suarez was before making the jump to liverpool? Where do you think kevin de bruyne was before terrorising germany (technically chelsea but he never really played there)? Eriksen before becoming englands top playmaker? Sancho before dortmund? Arthur before us?

Sure the level of competition matters, but their evaluating their individual skillsets matters too. The guy is tall as fuck, strong to bully most players, looks intelligent on and off the ball, and has superb skill on the ball for his size. Most obviously his goal scoring ability too...

There are so many great talents developed in lower leagues and managed to make the jump to top 5, you guys act like its the difference between amateur and pro.

If a dude is scoring hattricks every other game in belgium or austria or netherlands, he has a much higher chance to make it here than any glorified la masia talent.

Agreed. But most talented players from Salzburg will most likely end up at RB Leipzig. Only players who are still pretty good but not good enough/too old for RBL like Munas Dabbur will be sold directly to other clubs.
