Unless it's Barca. We love spending that much on average players.

Olmo is better as an advanced midfielder, but the guy really need to learn to pass the ball.
It's normalized even for Barca. We used to spend 120-150m for specific players during Barto era, when other clubs knew we had 222m more in the bank.

A heroball AMC who is not elite is his own team’s worst nemesis. You have to be a freak like De Bruyne or Fernandes to pull this off. Olmo will never be good enough for a serious club.

I believe we don't need Olmo profile. We already have his type at the club. Other areas need fill up.

I suppose you could argue whether Rodri really tried to play for the ball or not, but unless a player commits a terrible foul or doesn't try to play the ball at all it's not a red card.

That's literally the rule now.

"Where a player commits an offence against an opponent within their own penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and the referee awards a penalty kick, the offender is cautioned if the offence was an attempt to play the ball; in all other circumstances (e.g. holding, pulling, pushing, no possibility to play the ball etc.) the offending player must be sent off."
Ok

I wrote the same during WC 2022, where I have said that in key matches, or when it matters, 90% of 50:50 decisions will go in favor of big 5-6 nations.

Just for fun, let's follow all matches from now and see how many 50:50 decisions (like soft fouls in a box, or handballs after corners) will go in favor of Germany, France, Spain, England, and how much will go against them.

I mean, most of you agree that RM is favored with ref's calls in a CL due to their name and brand.

But when something similar is suggested with NT teams, people don't agree due to Barca or Messi connections.

Croatia would have lost either way, but let's see when the big teams will be truly screwed by 50:50 decisions on this tournament.

From my experience of playing vs big/reach countries, ratio will be 1:5 to 1:10 in favor of the most infuental countries.

** btw, yesterday Scotland got a pen a red card in the same action.

I know, it was a dangerous tackle.
But still, imagine the same tackle in Germany's box in the 2nd minute at 0:0.
Do you think that we would see both a pen and a straight red card against the hosts Germany in the 2nd minute?

Or remember that wtf offside in the opening match Qatar vs Ecuador in 2022 at 0:0 in the opening minutes?

I don't even want to mention semis and predictions of pens and 50:50 decisions.

The rules are somewhat clear on the paper.
But here and there they are bent for big teams and hosts, if possible.
Rules are bent against them extremely rarely.

As I have said, let's count 50:50 pens, reds, free kicks from now in key matches of the 4 most influental footballing nations.

Here are my quickie predictions. The convoluted formula they use to fill out the Round of 16 with 3rd placing group stage teams makes it hard to figure who goes where. The only group I think where that might make a difference is the B Group of Death where there will be a strong 3rd place team (either Spain, Croatia, or Italy; I suspect Italy). But it's possible the 3rd place team in that group might not even make the R of 16 because of the competition in the group causing low scores and draws.

I'll finish filling in my scores for the rest of the group stage games later today.

I think Spain may be stronger than I estimated. Not by inidivdual quality but by overall team cohesion. They could well beat Germany if their paths cross (a QF matchup looks likely).

Sooooooooooooooooooooo, I am taking my massive win here. The bozos know who they are, but special thanks to @BBZ8800 and @Temptation.

Easiest prediction ever.
No. I stand by my posts. Nothing has changed. Croatia were terrible today and their defending and finishing was a joke. Credit to Spain. They took their chances.

They are still only decent and won't win the tournament.

Not sure how this game changes anything or has anything to do with my posts. Spain didn't dominate or outplay Croatia whatsoever. Overrated on this forum. Sure, you can rejoice at this victory. Congrats. Well deserved.
