Europa League

Really, the Europa League is shit. People hardly come to the stadiums, low profile teams playing in the tournament and the prize money doesn't add to the excitement as well. Some things really should change. I'd suggest;

1. Making it a true cup tournament with knockout system. This way every match is important to both teams.
2. Increasing prize money to make it attractive to clubs.
3. Last 4 should place automatically for the Champions League. How awful is it to see Atletico Madrid in the EL? They should be in CL FFS!

Not really. I like the Europa League. Far more unpredictable than the Champions League. Although I will admit the CL this week was very surprising from majority English teams losing, Madrid losing (maybe not from their record in Germany), etc.

too tired to give further explanations.

It's kind of a blessing in disguise (or intentionally reasoned) that they don't guarantee the winner a CL spot IMO. I mean what chances would most EL winners have in the CL? AvB's Porto would have made the quarters in a CL IMO, and this current Atleti, as good as they look, would be undone by Real/Barca and perhaps some English teams, I hesitate to say most English teams because of what they did to Chelsea. But yea, taking part in another EL campaign means they have a real shot at winning it and a CL spot is guaranteeing them a quarter final/semi place at best.

What chances do 3th and 4th placed teams from the Bundesliga, Serie A, Premier League and La Liga have to advance far in the Champions League? Let's get back to the old format then where only the reigning champions of their domestic leagues can participate.

This current Atletico on their day could beat any English team by the way.

I thought Bundesliga and Serie A only get 3 spots? Yea I agree, a lot of the group stage CL games are boring...having said that sometimes you have surprises which keeps the whole thing interesting. I mean who would have thought Basel and Napoli would knock Man U and City out? Or even Dortmund beating Real or Ajax beating City.

Sorry to be a smart ass but i actually though Dortmund would beat Real & Ajax to beat City :lol:

Yeah Serie A lost there spot to the Germans pretty much down to this competition, i'm still bitter about it. I don't want to see Frankfurt in the CL over a Roma/Lazio.
