European Super League

Bayern can't join ESL if the majority holders (Bayern fans) don't want to because of 50+1 rule.

PSG won't join ESL in the near future as well. PSG is owned by the same owners who own Bein Sports who have the Champions League TV rights until 2024. So there is absolutely no reason financially for PSG to join ESL. It would be impacting their revenue.

Yeah, fans are fickle bunch. Let's see how many years Bayern fans are willing to put up of playing in the 2nd rate European competition, while also walking the one team league known as the Bundesliga. Would wager wouldn't last more than a few years.

PSG owners are all about status, maybe they hold out until the World Cup in 2022, but shortly after that they will aspire to take their project toe to toe against the big boys again. BeIn would already be hemorrhaging money if the ESL was to take off, PSG staying in the competition would not recoup the losses or anywhere near.

Also don't see how it is financially beneficial for either club to play in the equivalent of a glorified Europa League. Would earn much less and would have their players poached by clubs in the ESL.

JP Morgan's loaded. So they're already about to pay an advancement of 300m euros for 12 clubs?! Goddamn. Looks like money's no longer an issue to build our squad. On the other hand, what's the point if La Liga and UCL are basically meaningless?

I have to admit I like everything about the ESL format apart from not qualifying through the national leagues for it. Which could very well be the only point that counts.

so Rummenigge becomes UEFA chairman, just to join ESL?
What sort of 4D underwater Majong move is that?

Wait and see. No chance Bayern wouldnt join unless like Barca/Real socios voted against it.

They are playing games knowing most likely wont happen and not being one of ones being scolded for it while moving up in UEFA.

❗Ceferin (UEFA President): "All players that play in the Super League will be banned from playing in the Euros and the World Cup."

Tell me how Bayern joins the ESL given that a) the board cant decide it without member vote which is 50+1 fan owned and b) they would revoke their Bundesliga license by joining a foreign competition.

Then why not sit this phase out quietly, instead of publicly declaring you will "never join" and literally joining UEFA as chairmen?
It really doesnt make any rational sense. If they were to consider the possibility of joining, they would simply stay quiet and not say left and then go right without anyone asking.

Deal. If I win, we get to change your status as resident Bayern fan instead of resident Hannover fan.

:messi:

Should have told him to change his profile picture to this. :coffee:

Literally just said about members voting for it and all leagues have same obstacle for sides looking to leave so nothing unique there.

Vocal now, step up in UEFA and believe will never happen but take the improvements made by these clubs making this stand.

Cowardly but predict that is how it will pan out.

I think Bayern will eventually have no choice but to join for both sporting and economical reasons. If the ESL pulls through eventually the CL loses it's prestige, significance, monetary value etc. Same can be said for the rest of the other leagues around Europe, not to mention all the top players would push to play in the new ESL format.
