Ahh my bad. Why do they make these trophies so confusing? Is it so hard to just give it for the season rather than the calendar year? Who even measures statistics by calendar year? Seems really stupid.

There is a different timeline for seasons across the world . while we all know the winner will always be playing in Europe FIFA has no choice but to act like there is no preference .hence give it for more clear timeline like the calender year

Lewandowski has been a BEAST since the start of the season, for both club and NT, but both Suarez and Neymar were better than him last season(and clutch too) and more deserving of that 3rd place.

That can be debated. Lewandowski scored 41 goals in 41 games in this whole year. He is the only player in the world who has a 1.xx goal/game ratio this year, might even end up outscoring Messi and Ronaldo themselves (when did that happen for the last time?), why wouldnt he be a viable name for the 3rd choice? Although such a debate would never leave this barcaforum-thread after all. We have a ton of voters and the majority of them wont undergo an endless pro-contra monologue, they will vote the most popular choice. The one that has been backed by the media the most, which is Neymar this year. The media have reserved that spot for either him or Suarez since they won the CL already (which was in june), the campaign is already underway.

never debatable. neymar was top scorer in both nt and champions league.
it is not like lewandowski is better at scoring if you interpret the stat well.
MSN was basically sharing goals. the best trio in history.
nowadays, it seems that people far underrate the greatness of treble, because barca achieved it so much..

yeah they were sharing it, Neymar is surrounded by players who generate goals for fun, just like Neymar does.
But Lewandowski doesnt have that sort of support at Bayern or Poland, yet he is an absolute goal-show at this point.

Scored more goals(and quite important ones at that) in return, while we had other players the last few years who always wasted those chances.

Standing with 0(?) assists so far this season too, although he should have had atleast 3-4 had not Suarez lost a few sitters so not always black and white like that, that's the general rule of stats.

Should get better with his playmaking abilities though, he's behind others in that aspect.

Why are people bothered ? this year it's all Messi , i'd put Suarez second and Neymar third personally but i know CR goals push him to the top 2/3
Next year we will start to have new names beside Messi

The only real question is who makes no. 3 this year. And I think that Messi will lead big - but that CR7 as second will have a big lead to rank 3, too - and the next ranks might be very close.

It might have a lot to do with who will be in the 23 list, too. Because of the Copa America a lot of the South American votes especially of the coaches and press will go to players that shone in the competition. Normally I would have said that either Neymar or Suarez would be the biggest candidates for that 3rd spot - but because of the Copa they might not get that vote of too many of the South Americans who I think in other years would have voted for Neymar or Suarez.

The voting period for the awards commences on 26 October 2015 and closes on 20 November 2015 (midnight CET). In the event that insufficient votes (less than two-thirds of all potential jury members) are cast during the voting period, FIFA and France Football may, at their discretion, extend the voting period by one week to allow only those participating jury members who have not yet cast their vote by 20 November 2015 (midnight CET) to do so.

On 30 November, FIFA and France Football will announce in a web show the names of the three women and three men, as well as the three coaches for women’s football and three coaches for men’s football, who have received the most votes (without announcing the winners). The three nominees for the FIFA Puskás Award (honouring the most beautiful goal of the year) will be also unveiled.

I seen a lot of comments from people saying Jorge Sampaoli deserves the Best manager of the Year award. while it is impressive what he has done with Chile for me personally I want Lucho to win it.
