Germany selected a B/C-squad, that is also quite crippled because the u21 EC is at the same time and has a higher priority in Germany. Players such as Dahoud, Gnabry, Tah, Meyer, Weiser etc went there instead to the Confed Cup. On paper they are still a good team, but they have never played alongside each other and it's not really a given that they'll even make it out of group stage. Chile or Portugal are the clear favourites this year, with Mexico as a possible underdog.
