Put Kessie in any half decent team and he will do well. This 8s all on Xavi.
Only three players have looked good this season. Lewy,Kounde and possibly Ter Stegen. Maybe Balde but we haven't seen enough of him. The rest have struggled cause Xavi is clueless. He doesn't have proper tactics,line ups are shit and players are asked to do the opposite of what their strengths are.

Question people should be asking is why was he great at Milan and underwhelming here. Now before you go bad mouthing Serie A just have a look at La Liga.
The answer is obvious. Xavi is the problem.

No one can bad mount Serie A because they have Milan, Inter, Juve and Napoli who are all contenders for the scudeto. In La Liga are only Real M and Barca and in every 10 years Atletico.

Calciomercato.com - Kessie wants to go back to Italy in January and has already offered himself to several clubs including Milan.

It's not ideal but I would probably let him go for a low or negligible fee if he wants to leave as Xavi clearly won't utilise him well and he has quite a high wage for a benchwarmer.

I will let him go even for free.

In another post I have mentioned that from all 8 players Xavi acquired only Lewa and Kounde have the quality for Barcelona. But this happens when you get free agents that no one else wants. And of course, when you don't know how to use them properly.

Now people want to bitch about the players when clearly Xavi is the problem. You cannot have world class players in every position unless you're an oil club with an unlimited budget. Once in a while you may luck out and get the perfect storm of great transfers and great Masia players coming together. Otherwise you're going to have to deal with having a few positions where the players are good but not work class.
Our most pressing needs are a proper DM and right back. Who knows how we can afford to spend.

There's a trend of players joining Barca and becoming shit, it's been happening for years now and we continue to blame the players but in reality it's clueless manager after clueless manager.

A decent manager can still get something out of the average players also but we are fooled to believe only world class players in every position will allow us to challenge.

Agree about Kessie.
The player has a certain skillset that could become elite under the right tactical setup. He is not a classic 'Barca type' interior like Pedri.
The way Xavi uses him, at best he gets no more than 50% out of him.

Partly that applies for Raphinia as well, who is not as confortable out wide dribbling past players like Dembele
Kounde and Lewa are playing their positions

Kessie isn't it, I saw this long ago and don't know why we signed him. He's clearly not good at making progressive passes freely but makes good runs into the box. He's also not good at distribution, plus quite slow. He's not a bad player, but isn't elite.
