Franck Kessie

Miles off level needed for Barca.

Was only remotely ok when allowed to play higher up and get in and around box but still far from what Barca need.

Him and Gavi together deeper was about worst Barca mid have seen in last 20 years.

Kessie -> Gundy
Busi -> Oriol

That's not bad, even though we will be back in the market to replace both in a season or two. Hopefully finances level off by then.

Can't help but think, given the minutes Bob had pre-season if Charvy could have retained Nico and given him more prominence.

Still think they need another deep midfielder. Oriol and de jong is not enough if xavi is going to play a lot of double pivot.

Double pivot will only be considered against elite opposition, so around 10 percent of games.

If one is injured, Gundo can fill in there anyway.

We need a RB and an attacker. Midfield should be considered complete.

Xavi will play the same way as last season with FDJ dropping back to a DM and two players there for majority of games.

If that is classed as double pivot then thats what it will be.

But then we have no subs for these positions. The rest of the mid is attacking mids. Gundo is not ideal in those positions. Plus Oriol is simply not that good.

We should be able to get a RB and a CM/DM with the money coming in (who knows what the finances are at present tho). Even if its two prospects like Fresneda and whoever.

Gundogan, FDJ and Pedri can all play deeper if needed particularly in a two.

It is no different really from saying there are no subs for Romeu or whoever gets picked at sole DM anyway.

When you're trying to win the CL its a big ask to rely on Oriol almost every game. He will get roasted against fast players..like vincius and mpbappe..

It also seems doubtful that they are getting an attacker. My guess is that Roque will be advertised as the Dembele "replacement" whenever he comes.

That is made worse if have a sole DM not by the 'double pivot' of last season from Jan onwards.

Ideally they will have a number of Oriol replacements on the transfer list.

If they were going to sign Arda Guler then that's 25m in the bank for next season already. Not including the upcoming transfers which if we are frugal for the rest of the window, should bring our FFP on order.

That budget would be way better applied to a proper DMC. No idea what level he will reach, and haven't been that impressed when watching Andre Trindade, but I know we have scouted him and his move to Liverpool is meant to be costing 25m ish for example.

This season will be a struggle and Bobay be the backup. I strongly doubt Oriol will be as reliable as Busi to play most games. But then again the majority of LaLiga teams are so bad that we could probably get away with Marc Casado there (exaggeration).
