Franck Ribéry

Lemon curry?
Have you watched Bayern besides CL? Obviously not, otherwise you wouldnt state such nonsense. Ribery was clearly the best player destroying opponents on his own and delivering amazing performances almost every weekend. I agree that the team functioned as a whole, but Ribery was the cream of the cake..his season was just phenomenal.

I'm going to ignore the nonsense bit and yes, I've rarely missed any Bayern BuLi game in the past few seasons. You seem to be under the misconception that I stated Ribery's season wasn't great. All I said was that it is hard to differentiate between several Bayern players, as if you ask several people who the best Bayern player was, some will say Schweini, some will say Müller, some will say Ribery. I was impressed by Lahm the most, as he was the most consistent player and Bayern's backbone really. That doesn't mean Ribery wasn't world class.

But the whole #MiaSanFranckRibery suggests he carried the team on his own or was extremely better than the rest, which isn't really the case.

He didn't deserve the award. How can you argue against Messi's 64 goals? Yes, I am counting the national team as well because it counts. Goals aside, he still got 20 assists. Yes goals are not everything but he's a better player in the build-up as well. Besides, if you score 64 goals, you can't argue against it.

Let's face it, Ribery won it because of the CL trophy. Although his performances in the Bundesliga were great, his CL performances were nothing out of the ordinary. I'd say Robben was by far the better player in the CL, as well as Javi Martinez and Schweinsteiger. Even Lahm as well.

He should dedicate the award to the those players, and Jupp.

Yes. Messi carried Barcelona all the way in the CL. Totally.
Come on, guys. You flopped hard in the CL (so did we but that's not the point). Scoring goals isn't what this award is about (if so Ronaldo should have won it then  - 12 goals in 12 matches? Sounds pretty good to me). He won the CL, did well ALL season long and deserves this award.

Clearly the 3rd best player in the world at the moment. No offence to the Don. He is better yes, but not at the moment.

Ribery is getting better at dribbling as he gets older, for some reason. He rarely loses the ball these days.

Definitely did not deserve this award. He won things with his team, but isn't even comparable to Messi and Ronaldo as a footballer. They are miles ahead of anyone in this era and it's not just because of goals, but because of sheer phenomenal overall output and influence on their team. Ribery is a great player, no doubt. However that doesn't make him worthy to be ahead of Messi or CR. Ribery had a great season in terms of assists, dribbles, magical moments, etc. but Messi's goal output is miles beyond the elite average and he was almost level with Ribery in all the other aspects, which easily puts him ahead overall.

Actually, the podium of the Ballon D'Or 2013 should be 3x Bayern players, Messi should take a break and Ronaldo doesn't even have cash for Monte-Carlo plane tickets.

That's true and if you look at it from that perspective, it's not fair. But I see this award as a method of getting him out of the way for Ballon d'Or. He's not Ballon d'Or material, but he's been a big part of Bayern's success, so we have to give him something.

By this logic Iniesta didn't deserve the award last year either.

I think their logic was they had to pick a Bayern player since they won the treble so they picked him. He is not the most important Bayern player in my opinion (Schweini is), but he had a phenomenal season indeed, he was on the beast mode.

In terms of being compared with Messi and CR7, a Bayern fan once told me "If Ribery didn't have to defend at all like Messi doesn't; if all Ribery does is waiting for the ball to be fed to him and dribble past the defenders; if Bayern had been built around him and other Bayern players always choose to pass the ball to him; Ribery would have been equally successful as Messi". Any truth to that, you think?
