That's not news, news would be if Frenkie would decide he wants to leave. Until this happen Barca can't do anything.

Freeze him out. No games at all. Let him go for free honestly. Get those wages off the books. Next get Ansu off the books. That is 2 big time players worth of salary.

Then Barca needs to wisely replace those wages. Full Back Depth, Winger Depth, new Striker. All of those are in desperate need. Or at least just reach 1:1 and get that taken care of.

No matter what the light can be seen at the end of the tunnel with FDJ now.

Letting him go on a free will result as a loss in the books. We are currently in desperate need of profit to return to 1:1.

That's ok to me. Get that guy out. No matter what, the wages are gone, it helps somehow more than him being here. Get that bum out.

He isn't leaving until his contract is up anyways he is Dutch he will hold this grudge til the end.

Told you

Barcelona are ready to sell Frenkie de Jong for as little as €20m next summer, given the midfielder's exorbitant salary, and the fact his contract expires in 2026. @rsalmurri

I would give him for free given his wage and his ankle

20m must be the remaining amount of amortizaton in the books

Still it better for FFP I think to let him go for free, given that the saved wages in the salary space outweights the 20m losses of amortization left

Barcelona could be forced to take action if Frenkie De Jong doesn't agree to leave the club this summer. (Source:

OK,
It's 100% that is gonna get ugly again come summer.

He is going to try again to sit on his contract and refuse all negotiations (like he has done so many times up to now)
The idiot thinks that in 2026 a top team will come for him with a top contract and a sign-on bonus

In any case, I have told you guys what the method by the club should be.
Club has only 1 weapon against him right now: the stands and individual training.
Three easy steps by Deco and Laporta:
1) remove any offers from the table
2) make clear to him that his OUT of the club long-term plan and he won't be here past 2026
3) ask him kindly to cooperate and get a transfer out in the summer
4) if he refuses, let him know clearly and eXPLICITLY that he is not gonna train again with his teammates let alone be in a game squad

There is always the case that he would opt for doing vacations for a year in Barcelona on a high salary.
Given his damaged ankle, he might think about this option more positively.
But most players would capitulate under such threat, because they care about their future (next contract), and their NT status.
De Fraud is too proud to accept becoming a new Hazard or Bale, to give up on any football ambition entirely and become a rich pensioner living in Barcelona

We will see

Difference now compared to last few summers is that he isn't an undisputed starter. Before he'd play no matter what, but this time around he'll be seeing a lot of the bench if Pedri and Casado perform and stay fit. There's hope he might see leaving as best option, especially with next season being WC year.
