Frankie is a huge cule himself, fits us like a glove but instead of paying a reasonable fee (even 80mil is fair in todays market) we lowball Ajax, ruin more relations and then end up with scrubs like Rabiot

If all the rumours are true, I don't know why would anyone be mad at Frenkie or Ajax. From the looks of it we weren't even in the same ballpark money wise and going by past history of the board and the countless times we lowballed and disrespected clubs then it's not that farfetched to think we threw a derisory offer and didn't budge further. It's typical behavior from the bunch of cretins leading this club. They probably think we are still the cat's tits and can convince any player to come play for us regardless of money. They are so cut off from the reality that hey can't fucking see that we become more and more shitty by the day, footbaling wise. From the leading proponents of total football we transformed more and more into teams battling for Europa League places(defending the lead at home vs 17th place Villareal ffs). Of course players will think twice before choosing us above others when it's a direct consequence of the luke-warm style we play these days.
The fans of this board or manager will be first to tell you that we don't have the players to play the same as Pep's Barcelona and that maybe true but we sure as hell don't make any effort to replicate some of it by buying players or hiring managers that fit the system. They are content with goddamn Rabiot coming in for "free"(the guy will have a nice signing bonus in his pockets plus probably top 5 salary) and for what? A good player which is still far off what we should aspire to be. Again, we should not settle for good enough, we should only go after players with the potential to be top 3 on their positions at worst.

Well said. We never bothered to try to get him and we thought we could just lure players by mentioning our name. Those days are long gone.

No, we have been consistently linked with him only when we appointed Abidal, who obviously has strong connection with French players.
And Rabiot has other offers and rejected PSG regardless of Barca, never mind that Abidal himself -likely the force behind wanting Rabiot- is good friend with Nasser.

While PSG has tried countless times to renew his contract, they also seem to have said "screw it, he's not worth 2 or 3 more million/year so fuck him" and decided to splash 75 m + wages on De Jong. I mean, doesn't this tell you how far apart they rate the 2 players?

An opportunity in the market is for teams like ManU that are run more as a business nowadays, or teams like Monaco that are after profits first and foremost. While we are also a business we should worry about having top players in each position first, winning trophies and only after that worry about "opportunities".
