Pique is a great player but he's still very immature. I fear the influence that him and Cesc will have on each other, I've seen it before when lifelong friends play on the same team, it usually leads to plenty of parties.

it'll be like a Three Stooges sketch at first; Puyol will clank their heads together when they get outta line. a season or two of that and they'll grow up.

I can't feel ma face!
He'll be raped by hernandez . Please Masch and Puyol as centrebacks for the cl final

Hernandez is a big threat, I'm a huge Hernandez fan, but I think there going to have a fun little match... Pique can handle. And Hernandez will sure stir up some trouble..

Assuming Puyol remains around for that long...

He did remarkably well to return back from his injury this season and I salute the old warrior in him but I am not sure he'd recover after another injury like that...the man I point to in such occasions is none other than Valdes...while he is no Puyol and sometimes he, himself has his head far up his ass, he has a big mouth on him and I bet he could come up with a nice wake up call...

One mediocre/poor game is not going to change my opinion. Pique's one of the best CB's in the world and above all he is a big game player. I can see people coming and falling over at his legs once when he puts the regular show claming he is the china wall etc.

 fucking legendary, this pretty much sums up the pique situation

idk, i think pique and valdes have too much of a bromance relationship for that to happen... look at his mistake he made last night, valdes should've been screaming his head off but he just shakes his head in disappointment . who knows though

CR is a big threat but hernandez is smarter with his runs which could be troublesome

I didn't phrase it properly, someone like Valdes should be taking the lead in the absence of Puyol because no one else is old enough and has played long enough for Barca to command that respect. Valdes has to earn it now but his reputation as porn star won't get him much more than two thumbs up from the boys. Xavi is always too busy talking to the referee, Iniesta is quite, Busquets is too young, only Valdes can scream and yell at defenders to concentrate more.

Mascherano could be that too, but he isn't what Xabi is to Madrid.

if we get a good CB in the summer (or even if Abidal gets back to full fitness) then we can keep Puyol in reserve. always on the bench. we don't have to use him every game (and truly, he's not even that great in the smaller games) and can save his appearances for the big clashes. that will help us to keep him healthy - as long as he's always with the squad on the bench, we will not miss his leadership.

and yeah, Valdés has a big mouth. his problem is he's too much of a hot-head. Puyol plays like a hot-head but is actually pretty placid, so is in a good position to give advice.

Xavi does a massive job, talking to the refs. without him we'd probably get even less protection than we do.

His recent high performances in the odd big games suggests he could handle playing in only those without a loss of too much rhythm next season. Still would concern me, tough.

When Pepe was sent off, Puyol was listening to what Mourinho was telling him keeping his cool. Just to show you how responsible and respect Puyol is.

Now, I am so fucking curious as to what Mourinho was telling him.

I've been wondering that same thing too, couldn't find an answer anywhere though...

yup.

Busquets did the same in the 2nd leg. it's why I think he will grow into a leader of this team. he has the same disposition as Puyol.
