Neymar was, in the end, instrumental in our 4-3 win with that penalty and red card he obtained. I still think Mascherano was the only one who was bad last night. Alves and Cesc were hit and miss, and the others were good, to great, to awesome (Messi and Iniesta). Next season we will be great if that 100m allocated for transfers is true. Two defenders and an experienced no9 is all we need.
People think that between 09-12 we were monsters in defence. We weren't. It's just that our weaknesses weren't exposed because of the insane pressing we did up front. We basicaly didn't allow teams to attack us. Tata Martino has done some great things, but we lost the pressing factor, and that means more pressure being put on our back 4. We can't soak up pressure, and that's clear. And it's not Alves, or Mascherano, or Alba or any other player's fault. It's how we play the game. We are the agressor, always have been in the last 5-6 years, and we can't just be transformed over night in a tight-defence team. As long as we won't control games, we'll suffer.
One good thing about this season is that we haven't been exposed to counter-attacks in big games. We played Real, City and Atletico, 7 games total and the only goals we received on the counter were scored by Villa in the first leg of the super-cup, and Jesse, when the match was pretty much over. That is great.
