Gerardo "Tata" Martino

A final is about winning or losing. Bartra will only start if one of Pique or Masch can't play.

What I meant is which do you think is more important, copa del rey this year or a world class CB for the next 10 years? I'd hate to see him leave/ get his development stalled any further than it already has.

Well, one game won't change that.

Kerrybai;s gotta play our guys based on form. Pedro should have started today said:
Pedro was crazy good vs. Osasuna. And Alexis was fantastic.

But every coach in the world starts Neymar today.. And in big games, Iniesta is better at forward than Pedro or Alves.

Tata loves Pedro and Alves. They will both play a lot, win games the rest of this season.

Martino again, delivered in a big game!

need some enforcement next season and we are back at being the best

I really like Tata in general, and I'd want him to stay, but as cule4life said, I want him to begin with critical thinking, instead of doing the default.

Mascherano and Neymar had no business starting tonight at all. Neymar is in poor form, Mascherano is not a quality CB. Not for games like this one. Alves had no business starting the second half. That's what you do when players are having a bad game. You sub them out. They're liabilities.

Not like he really had any choice but to start Masch. Agree about Neymar though, he should have been benched for Pedro or Sanchez.

The only mistake was starting Neymar. Him losing the ball resulted in dangerous counter attacks, and he was useless in defence, one of the reasons why di maria was having such an easy time. If he hadn't started it would have been a more comfortable win I think.

Overall the team played with passion and motivation which is what we wanted to see.

It might have been his only mistake, but it was a very big mistake. I also think that he screwed up by playing Cesc as well. But all's good that ends good!

I think you should take the job from him, as you know a lot more than so called Patata . And manage the team yourself. And you're a motivator and a tactician.

LEAVE THE GUY ALONE.

:) Neymar was, in the end, instrumental in our 4-3 win with that penalty and red card he obtained. I still think Mascherano was the only one who was bad last night. Alves and Cesc were hit and miss, and the others were good, to great, to awesome (Messi and Iniesta). Next season we will be great if that 100m allocated for transfers is true. Two defenders and an experienced no9 is all we need.

People think that between 09-12 we were monsters in defence. We weren't. It's just that our weaknesses weren't exposed because of the insane pressing we did up front. We basicaly didn't allow teams to attack us. Tata Martino has done some great things, but we lost the pressing factor, and that means more pressure being put on our back 4. We can't soak up pressure, and that's clear. And it's not Alves, or Mascherano, or Alba or any other player's fault. It's how we play the game. We are the agressor, always have been in the last 5-6 years, and we can't just be transformed over night in a tight-defence team. As long as we won't control games, we'll suffer.

One good thing about this season is that we haven't been exposed to counter-attacks in big games. We played Real, City and Atletico, 7 games total and the only goals we received on the counter were scored by Villa in the first leg of the super-cup, and Jesse, when the match was pretty much over. That is great.

Tata cant win, can he?? No matter what he does he gets flak. Seriously Tito should have been around. We would have been torn a new one. Tata has won or drawn all the big games so far. There is still work to be done but so far so good.

Brilliant job by Tata, done well in all our big games now.

Too bad that he can't motivate the team enough for the smaller games though.

I hear you, but IT'S NOT so far so good. Having won 6 out of 6 points against Real Madrid and STILL be 1 point behind them is a clear indication that something WAS NOT right this season.

I think it's a problem with the players mentality. They just think they have to turn up against weak teams to win. Only thing Tata can do is bench them but sadly he doesn't have the guts.
