Gerardo "Tata" Martino

Behrox

Vice President of FC Barcelona
It's not this board. And by now the damage is done.

If Tata stays considering its his last year on the contract he might actually have a go against Xavi and if he wins some silverware the Board has no choice but to renew him be it this one or another

Is the whole "Xavi running the team and deciding tactics" thing a proven fact by the way?

 No, it's a load of speculative crap being tossed around by Forum conspiracy theorists. Hell, do you think Xavi a.k.a. "Mr. Possession" really wants Alves to cross the ball aimlessly over the box every time he passes him the ball? If Xavi was running the show, he'd cut Alves out of the game, he'd complain about Cesc disrupting the midfield, and Neymar trying take-ons at the half-line.

The typical Barça fan *does* want to see a clean technically excellent passing game from their team, and not see the team scrambling out-of-control (i.e. the typical box-to-box 50/50 random melées one associates with run-of-the-mill football from almost every other team on the planet).

Tata was in the process of adding an absolutely lethal counter attack to our repertoire until Xavi had a meeting with him and suddenly we went back to Tito style(may he recover swiftly) football starting in January.

JFK had sex with his wife, and suddenly he was assassinated. Coincidence? I think not!

What do you think they discussed? Vacation plans? Xavi has brought up possession stats after every major defeat in the last few seasons. Its no secret he's become consumed by the ideology of possession football.

Could have discussed any number of things (and probably did)- why do you make a completely unfounded assumption that it was Xavi literally ordering Martino to play a specific tactics?

Why don't you listen to Martino explain himself why he sometimes chooses midfield over speed?

"Obviously it was different from playing with three strikers when we are much faster. With one extra midfielder we have more possession, but I'm happy with the result, we played very good in the first 90 minutes," confirmed Martino.

The plan seems to be to utilise the fab four in the big matches such as El Clasico and further rounds of the Champions League, as Martino realises that possession is vital to their success against the top sides.

“Whoever sees less of the ball will suffer most. You cannot prioritize [the game over a goal]. We need to have possession of the ball as that will elevate us and go against City," Martino commented before the game in Manchester, via Football Espana.

Against the majority of sides in La Liga, Martino will feel that they can afford to be more direct and have less control, as the teams will cause less damage with the ball.

Hey Giggs is the player coach for United same shit. Xavi thinks he is the next Pep and maybe he is but needs to get out of the way now. Already his stubborn ways have cost us Thiago

He also said the approach for atletico would be different than the game against rm, and fielded against atletico the same team that won 4-3 in the bernaleo.

Though also unsupported and unproven, it is at least plausible to postulate the board might have meddled in team lineup, as the coach was hired by them and can be fired by them. It's absurd to postulate that any player has any say in the tactics and lineup (other than perhaps indirectly Messi, through the board, assuming that their top moneymaker has some desires other than salary and playing time that the board instructs the coach to meet to keep him happy).

 I've already read a lot of ridiculous things today such as "Pep will be sacked soon by Bayern" but this is even better.

Because Xavi Hernandez is the Francis Underwood of FC Barcelona. :D

Yeah, I let that one slide...I was hoping someone else would jump on it. :thumbsup2:
