Teaching Barca the way of the grey goose.

Barca putting four past Bayern + while being coached by their former coach + Kimmich bitching and Müller pulling a face as if it rained for a month = Priceless. Loving it.

It seems I was wrong about Flick - this looks good so far. We‘ll see though :satorra:

Xavi played good football, even if Flick ball is more entertaining. Beating likes of Madrid and Atletico, 4-0 and 3-0 can't be done if you don't play good football. In our worst periods, sure, football was not great, but it's understandable.
Xavi as a coach? He is a poor manager ...and I don’t get why people still don’t see how crucial a top manager is. Just look at clubs like Man City, Liverpool, Dortmund, Bayern, Barcelona, and Real Madrid. What do they all have in common? They’ve been lucky enough to have some of the best coaches ever—Guardiola, Ancelotti, Klopp, Flick (still new, but he showed his brilliance at Bayern with that aggressive high-pressing game), and the list goes on.

Now, let’s talk facts:

Take Lewandowski, for example. When he was at Dortmund, he mainly relied on his natural goal-scoring instincts, but Klopp taught him how to press and move better. By the time he moved to Bayern, he was already a more complete player, but Guardiola took it up a notch, turning him into a false nine who could link up play. Flick continued that development, but always with a focus on relentless pressing.
But under Xavi? Honestly, it feels like Lewy’s taken a step back. It’s hard to see what new things he’s added to his game lately.

Lewy was lucky to have met some of the best coaches out there, and that’s a big reason why he became the player he is today - because he was really avarage player.

So, to sum it up, Xavi’s coaching still needs work. After Guardiola, Barcelona finally got a decent coach again, and hopefully, they’ll make a splash in the Champions League and La Liga.

But for now, let’s just enjoy watching them play because they’re looking pretty good!

Cheers!

Welcome back. I was wrong too as I trusted various sources from Germany.

Yeah, I said already Flick ball is more entertaining. I was ok with Xavi ball obviously and if Flick delivers at the current rate I will be even more happy under Flick.

I simply disagree that the quality of football under Xavi was anything less than acceptable even at its worst state. Far from what the reality was.

You can of course put all howlers on the manager's ability to motivate the players. That's another discussion.

Even in CL vs PSG the team was scoring a lot of goals until Araujo took over.
It really isn't another discussion at all as coaches are paid to deal with those situations.

If players are underperforming compared to how they should be it falls on the manager ultimately and all this talk of red cards, unlucky goals, bad refereeing etc misses the point.

Those are things all managers have to deal with and the best managers are the ones who can manage those situations and react when they happen.

Even recently, Arsenal had a red card vs City at 45' and held out with a 2-1 lead all the way until the 98th minute, and ended with a draw. But even forgetting that, Araujo's red card is a consequence of the dynamic of the game, it was obvious PSG are pressing Cubarsi and letting Araujo have the ball because his distribution was poor. It resulted in a missed pass and subsequent last man foul which would have probably resulted in a goal anyway.

All this micro analysis of what if this, what if that, what if we didn't have a red card, what if the ref didn't call this foul, are excuses and the best teams are the ones who can manage those situations.

Only losers complain about that stuff. You see that Flick never complains about injuries, even though he missed many key players during the start of this season, all Xavi could talk about is injuries, signings, refs, etc.

As good as we've been this season and against Bayer in particular I still fear that high line could be exposed against RM with the speed they have upfront. I have the feeling Flick will be a bit more conservative tomorrow with his defensive line.
