Got away this time. Easily our worst (real) game so far.
This is not our worst game so far. Valencia and Rayo have been terrible 1st halfs, but we managed to improve massively and score goals in 2nd half.

Here, neither halfs were necessarily bad. We had them on ropes whole match and they had to park the bus to avoid the thrashing. We've produced a few massive chances such as one for Eric or that header for Raphinha.

He didn't "get away" with a win. The last minute chance maybe makes you think so. But missed chances for opps happen. And if you are going to count their missed chance then count ours as well. And in that case the match easily ends with a 5,6-1. Would much rather say that Getafe got away with 1 goal difference than that Flick got away with a win. We absolutely dominated them here and deserved to win.

Our right flank loses balls very often. This is already a trend.

As for the match against Getafe, stupid people just look at the table and say - oh, we have to destroy them 5-0!

I repeat once again, from the point of view of defensive play, Getafe is the best team in La Liga at the current time. They create few chances, but also allow few chances in front of their goal. They almost never open up, often foul, and slow down the game, which is why among all La Liga clubs Getafe has the least NET playing time in matches.

Knew he needed a strong lineup here to win. Also knew he could rest certain starters against Villarreal and win.

I'd say Flick's team's doing some solid analysis.

Controlled match, could've put the game to bed earlier.

On balance I’d agree although you simply have to kill off an opponent like Getafe, especially in those dying moments of the game

I had the impression they relaxed too much as they could see the opposition were content to just defend, but that too is their strategy much like Flick invited Getafe to be more open earlier in match

We were unlucky as well of course, never mind yet another reminder of how atrocious RFEF are in defending players with the accumulation of fouls without a yellow

3 pts is 3 pts and momentum continues as the team hopefully begins to recover those who have been injured

Nothing but positives so far.

What I like is that we are much more adventurous and bold in attack. You need to try stuff out and you need to fail a lot before things can begin to gel.

This optimistic, free, juvenile style is something we've been missing for a while. With the reference points of Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Neymar looming over you, it is natural to be self-critical, but that is no way to build a team. Attacking is a muscle that needs to be trained.

People often think of Pep's team as this very refined machine that worked in perfect understanding and cohesion. Maybe it started to look like that towards the end but I remember the early days as very adventurous, sometimes even chaotic football, everyone just triyng things out with each other. Losing the ball a lot but regaining it quickly by dominating the spaces. You need to go through that phase in order to become a great side. You can't just go straight to maturity.

Surely this game was an indication that some players like Yamal and Raph need rest.

Both were fairly gassed and were not exerting themself like other games. The Set of next couple of games is easy enough to rest these players and come out wins.

He should definitely rest. The international break is coming in the second week of October. He should plan ahead and rest some key players.

If Mayoral scores that chance it would have 100 percent been on him. That double defensive substitution of Martin and Fort for Cubarsi and Balde was nonsensical.

Almost squandering 2 points for the sake of 5 minutes rest, made not sense at all. Never again please.
