I don't call it delusional I call it superstitious.
I think it's strange to have so many replies for let's face it an average player. Hba does a good job of marketing his hero but he is not at the level of the top clubs in Europe.
I still think he's a good player through and liked him at marseille. I'm confused to why he went to Newcastle, the top clubs were interested in him and he turned them down,

yes lets face it very average indeed................
Because you see average players doing that kind of stuff all the time.............
He joined Newcastle because he we are a big club and he knew about us from Hollywood and wanted to be the next Santiago Munez
Also because he has fallen out with players (Benzema, Squillaci, Ziani) and managers (Perrin, Gerets, Deschamps @ Marseilles) is perhaps why some of the European Elite clubs decided to take a pass on him as he had garnered a bit of a reputation as player with a bad attitude.
But yes Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid were very interested in signing Hatem Ben Arfa in the past.

Ben Arfa is a decent player who could be a lot better if he wasn't such a douche, arrogant and selfish in matches.
But decent is all he is... and because of himself, he will never be anything else.
And no, he moved to Newcastle because Madrid and other big clubs had made clear to him he would not be a starter.
What do you expect if no team offered even £10 million for a 23-year-old?
The amount of bias is just ashtonishing from your part HBA. And I mean no disrespect, but praising Ben Arfa and Newcastle
on BARCA forums at a level no one else agrees they deserve is a bit ridiculous.

Ben Arfa is a poor mans Malouda,I just don't understand why HBA is hyping him to such an extent he goes into the category of great potential when he was young but ended up average.

You sir deserve a standing ovation. . . . I just don't understand why people can not appreciate a masterpiece when they see one. A lot of guys in here believe you have to play for FCB to be recognized as top class. . . I most respectfully beg to differ quite vehemently with this opinion. There are a lot of quality players out there, who should be in much bigger clubs (Not taking anything away from Newcastle ), but aren't just as lucky. . . . . He will NEVER be Messi or Maradona, but that doesn't make him any less a GREAT player. Remember Matthew Le Tissier anyone?

Its just your opinion,Ben Arfa does good things but it comes in 1 off games,he isn't consistent and I mean CONSISTENT....very occasional glimpses of what he can do and you guys watch youtube or what HBA posts and decide he is world class
,If you watch the PL on a regular basis you'll see why Ben Arfa isn't close to great, he could become great eventually but that doesn't mean he necessarily will.

Also yeah, I can recognize when someone outside of Barca is a world class player, I do it all the time. But HBA? Really? He's a good player but it takes a lot more to be world class.

True he hasn't been very consistent in the PL, but saying he is a one off player is taking it too far. I guess his dip in form sometimes has to do with his demeanour more than anything else. When he was at Marseille he had some pretty impresive games in the Champions league against quality sides. I repeat he will never be a Messi or Maradona, but he is definitely one of the most talented out right now. . . . Just needs to quit being so greedy sometimes. I think he will mature a lot this season though. Hopefully we get to see a better player.

you are all entitled to your opinions. But like I said "average"? I've never seen "average" players do the kinds of things he does on a football pitch.
I agree he needs to be more consistent, however in the final stretch of the season he was very consistent coming up with a goal or an assist almost every game. You have to remember he didn't really play the first half of the season as he had not proved his fitness to the manager after his leg break and ankle injury after that so he spent most that period on the bench.
I promise you all though, this will be a big big season from Hatem Ben Arfa as he will be playing from the start of the season. He will be one of the very best players in the Premier League I promise you that.

Youtube has nothing to do with it, I watch every Newcastle match in full every week. He's a top class player and if any of you start watching Newcastle matches week in week out you will recognize that too.
