Hey, there's a bit of hyperbole there, and Cancelo is the best option if we can get a favourable deal- like what City gave to Bayern.

I'm just getting a sense of more short-termanism in his selection process and integrations compared to what we saw with the likes of Pep. Take for example when LaLiga is done and the B team guys don't even get a shot. Compare that to Pep and going back to Rijkaard who gave opportunities from Muniesa to Ramon Ros.

Yea well the later I agree with, he should definitely have been playing some B team players when the league was wrapped up, clearly the first teamers were tapped out.

Bench & a few B team players would have been more motivated.

We already have more than enough youngsters. I don't get this narrative. There is no room in the team for any more youngsters at this moment. Look at the stats, we are the big club that gave young players the most minutes last season bar none.

The squad is good if we look at our situation, with all the roadblocks from La Liga. Signing someone like Carrasco would be two times better than another raw youngster.

First we have to get Pedri, Gavi, Araujo, Balde to perform in CL vs the likes of City, Bayern etc. This stage is yet to be reached.

A signing like that loan deal Bayern made with Perisic for our well-known LW problem is what we should be after. Be it Carrasco or someone else. Somebody cheap, with impeccable work ethic, experience, good pace, and who doesn't get scared under pressure. You can't think about some raw player and pay tens of millions for that when you still have holes in your first 11.

Any coach who isn't asked to rebuild will do this.
You are citing Pep as an example, but Pep was Barca B coach and he used players whom he already knew, his track record with youth, in 10 seasons outside of Barca, is underwhelming to say at least.
Coaches prefer veterans or players they already know, they don't want the extra work of being teachers to young players, and want players who can immediately get them wins to improve their record.

Rijkaard was different tbh, and maybe Koeman so it might be a Dutch thing, but tough to put blame on Xavi on this one.
He used youth players who were already there, and maybe the board need to put more youth there who are capable to contribute, not on Xavi to demand them.

Cancelo is lazy, doesn't have his mind in the game a lot and defensively very questionable, to say the least.

Rather we take our chances on Fresneda.

We wouldn't get a good deal out of City for Cancelo. We're basically their cucks.

Bayern know how to take advantage of loan + option deals on the other hand.

If Xavi and Alemany both want Cancelo, then that is a pretty good sign that we should go for Fresneda.

As said before only reason I'd take Cancelo is because he can also cover LB (would clearly prefer him there over Alonso). But as was reported weeks ago even his loan would cost us around 20m this season which is too much.

OTOH if we get Carrasco he could be a backup LWB in a 343/352. Can't really play in a 4-3-3 though.
