Lets summarize that Rakitic and Alba were by far the worst players that night.

For me Alba was the out and out worse as he basically cost two goals. Rakitic was simply his usual plodding, pedestrian, cowardly, invisible self. Maybe I'm so used to him being terrible in big games I no longer notice, but he didn't stand for me particularly as terrible.

A manager who truly understands how a true Barca midfielder should play would have yanked him off the pitch after one minute of that pass. That absolute lack of awareness should spelled the end of his career with us some time ago. The fact that he is allowed to plod in our midfield since he arrived(aside from his first season) and survived until now is testament to the mediocrity of both Lucho and Valverde. Tbf Lucho did try to phase him out, unfortunately he tried that with fecking Gomes, a bigger coward than Rakitic and a mental midget to boot.

I know it wasn't his first "safe" pass. I was simply focusing on that incident alone and what a manager who knows his Barca shit would have done in that specific instance. The fact that he wouldn't have made it under a true Barca coach in the first place should be common knowledge for every Barca fan that isn't a closet Mourinho/Simeone bus parking, cowardly football style. .

Rakitic has had that problem forever now.

When he's facing our defenders/GK he seems always oblivious to what's happening behind him as he doesn't know if a player from the other team is pressing him or not so when he gets the ball he just automatically blasts it back.

that is what we are hoping and we do have room for optimism. iniesta could pick his spots late in his career but since we havnt had anyone i would want even trying it.

You are right about this.
And this video is correct.

But as I have wrote a few times: when Rakitic makes a dumb pass, that video will be posted here 50 times.
When Arthur made lots of similar dumb passes, people didn't even comment on that.
I mean, why commenting on bad passes of a young player whom a forum actually love?
A few times after matches, when he was bad, nobody wanted to say the truth: he was bad.
When he made horrible passes which led to 1 vs 1 opportunities for opponents: a silence. Nobody is mentioning that.

The same as with Dembele's and Raki's nutmegs to Griezz.
One is a spectacular thing and a proof how Dembele is a world class, motivated and brave.
The other nutmeg: not a single user has mentioned.

Anyway, June and July are probably the worst Months to read forums.
Nothing is happening, there are no matches, and people are just pushing personal agendas.

Rakitic isn't the worst player in the universe. He is just not good enough anymore to be considered an undisputed starter. He can still play a part in this team, if he stays, but needs to be utilized in matches were his weakness are not exposed.

Dembele isn't an awesome player. He is young and very talented with many flaws and an undeserved high pricetag.

Arthur last year competed with Vidal for a starting spot, not with raki and busi. He has shown good potential for a midfielder of his age. Also he has his own flaws and bad matches, and should also be utilized in matches where his attributes are required.
