Exactly! And I even think we overpayed for Cesc, especially since he's from La Masia.
Javi Martinez could best be compared to Mascherano, they can both play as CB and DM. But Masch is starter for his NT and played wonderfull football for Liverpool when they had a strong team. Mascherano is more experienced and still the better player.
Martinez had a couple of good games last season, that's it. We would be crazy if we pay more than 20 mil for Martinez. Then we just need to keep looking for a good CB with a normal pricetag.

Ok, but we paid 40m for a 29 years old player who can play at the top for 3-4 years.
J Matinez is 24 and he can play for 10 years.
But it is true that he is too expansive by comparing him to the price we paid for Masch, Fabregas,...however, i think that he wants to stay at Bilbao.
Said that, with Keita leaving and Abidal seriously doubt if he returns to play football we really need someone higher than 1.80m.
