If Umtiti can't be relied on this season, and Vermaelen is a player we know we can't rely on, Todibo is 4th CB while Murillo is 3rd CB.
We are simply correcting a mistake of entering the season with Umtiti being not 100% health and relying on Vermaelen as 4th CB.

Seems like Valverde is going to stay next season barring another epic fuck up in the Champions League so it would be beneficial if we bought him now. Valverde can decide if he values him or not. I do wonder if we knew anything about him before he was linked to Juve

Cautious optimistic as I have no idea how good or bad this player is.

I doubt we can automatically assume he will be our 3rd or 4th CB, we will have to wait and find out how good he is and how well he can integrate.

I still think if we have any doubts about Umtiti we need to get another, much more established CB, someone like Upamecano. We will need to think of replacing Pique not too long later.

In fact, we are still a bit short in defense because our left footed CBs were also supposed to be partly backups for Alba too. The Barca B players are obviously not good enough. If Alba gets a lengthy injury spell, I guess its Lenglet or Roberto at LB.

Yeah, there's no scenario he will play under Valverde. What are the chances Umtiti, Pique/Lenglet, Vermaelen and Murillo will all be injured at the same time?

There is no way that he will have any meaningful playing time this season or that Valverde would even be willing to bet on a complete unknown that he 10 days ago had no clue even existed in the first place. Even less so considering Murillo's arrival.

I would loan him out to a Spanish club and only a Spanish club in order to learn the language as quick as possible and help him integrate in the country as well as obviously making himself familiar with the league. Should not be a too tough transition for a Frenchman.

From the very beginning it smelled to me like another Yerry Mina or Marlon type of purchase but I would be positively surprised if that will not be the case. If that occurs it will mean that Todibo will be deemed good enough to actually get a chance at the club.

BTW, Valverde recently told the press during his press conference before the Getafe game, that Umtiti is a few weeks away from reappearing again. How certain that is, I have no clue about but if that will be the case it would make even less sense for Todibo to be a part of the first team already this season.
