I'm really not a fan of Ferguson as a manager or a man at all, for many reasons.
One thing that makes me laugh about his achievements though is clueless modern fans saying 'he beat Real Madrid with fucking Aberdeen!'. It was pre-Bosman days - back then Real Madrid were nowhere near as good as they have been in recent times, and Aberdeen were miles better than they are now. Scottish football was much better than it is now. It was before TV money had destroyed smaller leagues. The football landscape was totally unrecognisable to today.
Also, go back and look at some of the clubs who won European trophies back then - clubs who are minnows now (just like Aberdeen). So it wasn't as amazing a feat as we are led to believe. Yet you listen to these thickos talk - they speak like it's modern Aberdeen beating modern Real Madrid. They talk up that achievement yet I bet they couldn't even name a single Aberdeen player from back then (Willie Miller, Alex McLeish etc), or how the backroom staff really helped Ferguson. Like I say, just morons and viewing 80s football through the prism of the present.
