Alemany said we are appealing in CAS, and if rejected he "will play next 5 months elsewhere "
Seems we will sign him regardless

So will he be able to play this season already? I mean if we get past United and have a deep run in Europa, he could be useful in some easier La Liga games to try out to rest our regulars, especially if we also keep maintaining a healthy lead and can in terms of squad selection prioritize Europa in April/May, if we're still in it by that time.

No, registration period is over for UEFA anyway.
We are appealing for CAS, but he will train with Barca B anyway. Will officially join in July if appeal rejected.

Is he player for Barca B or first team?

Roberto signing new deal and getting this random guy could mean no real RB in summer.

Has anyone seen him in a proper match. Don't follow MLS and I don't have a clue.
I'm pretty sure he will be an attacking FB with limited defensive skills.

Reckon he flops massively based on the fact Chelsea didn't sign him after we announced our interest a year ago.

Maybe it's because they were looking for a backup to Reece James and realized Araujo is better than James, so they got Malo Gusto instead.

Maybe :messi:

Is he good enough for Barca B? Could be another Douglas/Matheus type of transfer.

Douglas was 24-25 when signed and nobody rated him in Brazil. Not even fair to compare Araujo to him imo.

Moussa Wague is probably better comparision in terms of talent (although I think Araujo is more developed than Wague was when signed) but that poor guy was destroyed by injuries after showing some early promise at Barca B.

I think he is more than good enough for Barca B. Already has 3 caps for Mexico NT after previously also making his debut for USMNT. Has played 100 games in MLS and being one of the best RBs there. I know most people here don't rate MLS but don't think their level is really that bad. Clearly not worse than Segunda B/Primera RFEF for example.

He has also gone through Barca Academy in Arizona so should already learned concepts of our game. In other words he has that famous Barca DNA.

First team is another thing ofc but I think with our current RB situation there Araujo should get a preseason under Xavi (could potentially also get a few trainings with them before end of this season after he first settles in with Barca B) and I'd also rather give him a chance than pay 30-40m for likes of Foyth or Pavard. Worst case scenario we keep playing Kounde at RB (which is not ideal and he doesn't like but he'll continue to do so if needed) but better than spending money on players that won't really add anything new to the team.

Mavericky also gave his blessings, we're good.

BTW, this thread should be moved to Barca B and La Masia section.
