I couldn't find a thread. Needs a thread. 17 year old Greek winger or attacking midfielder. My mate told me he looked special when he came on at half-time on Thursday night (for his debut for the NT). Last night he started at Hampden and scored.

I know little about him, other than he's younger than Lamine. He was born in Belgium and plays for Genk, but he represents Greece, which looking at his name isn't a surprise.

I will leave it someone else to post the obligatory YouTube video. But there's a bit of buzz around him and he needs a thread. Maybe some of the Greek posters (Messigician?) will have more of a clue.

Edit - images from draconifire. Thanks matekonstantinos-karetsas-genk-2025-1742202307-163553.jpgScreenshot 2025-03-24 at 11.30.15.png

He has never played for a Greek club

He was not born in Greece

I don’t even know if he speaks the language

I’m sorry I know next to nothing about his skills as a footballer, however I can never question his spirit: He made the choice to represent Greece, and it is because of this pride in his blood we were one of the few countries to win the euros. It is because of men like Karetsas who understand what it means to be Greek.

We are the children of legends, the descendants of warriors, philosophers, poets, and kings. We are the people who carved reason into the chaos of the ancient world. From the stones of Marathon to the ruins of Constantinople, from the fires of revolution to the silent strength of our villages—we have endured.

Not because the world made it easy, but because we refused to kneel.

We have bled together. Under foreign rule. Under tyranny. Under famine. Our ancestors were not spared pain—but they never let go of who they were. And neither will we.

We are Greeks. Hellenes. We carry our history in our blood and our future in our hands. Every time they tried to erase us, we became louder. Every time they tried to divide us, we grew closer. This land, this sea, this sky—they know our name.

Even in our darkest hours, when the world turned its back, we lit the fires ourselves. When hope seemed lost, we became the hope. Pride was never a luxury for us—it was a necessity. It’s what kept the heart beating through every betrayal, every occupation, every injustice.

Let them say we are few. Let them say we are scattered. Because when the time comes, the Greek soul unites like flame catching wind—fast, fierce, unstoppable.

So remember this:

We do not stand because it is easy.

We stand because we were born to.

And we do not fight only for today,

We fight for every name etched in stone,

For every child yet to be born,

For every corner of our land that still whispers,

“Elefthería i thánatos.”

Through blood and through pride—we rise. Together. Always.

Ζήτω η Ελλάς!

Very impressed mate with what you have written there.

I was expecting something more along the lines of 'he cuts in well from the left and dribbles past men or takes shots'.

So reading that has brought a tear to my eye.

Appreciate it, Scotland has endured through hardship similarly in history. We understand each other.
