:dembele: will be learning from the GOAT while Mbappe will unfortunately be learning from a pretender :neymar:

oh god this shit is gonna be the new Messi vs Ronaldo debate right?

More so if Mbappe had actually gone to Real Madrid.

You know I don't think Dembele learning from Messi is something to underestimate. He's far more coachable than Neymar IMO who's obviously the greater talent, probably the greatest talent in World Football after Messi, but with an individualistic trait and other issues that will stand in his way from achieving that sort of consistency and greatness.

Sometimes it doesn't matter if someone else is more talented than you if you got a much better tutor and role model to observe and learn from.

Some Brazilian or Brazilian pretenders like the retards on Twitter tend to believe Neymar would have been better off going to a team where he would have been a star instead of Barcelona years back, but what they don't realize is how much better Neymar has become learning from and playing with Messi. Become more of a team player, a far more direct dribbler with less Brazilian league showboating for the sake of it and a much better creative outlet. Now you can obviously argue that it's because he evolved as a player, but been plenty of individualists who have remained that way for most of their careers.

Had he gone to a team where he would have been a star right away in Europe, it might have affected him negatively, feeding him with all the vices he had as a player.

I don't understand silly statements like this given Mbappe is a much better player than Ronaldo was at 18.

So was Quaresma.

It's not silly to suggest it's highly unlikely Mbappe, Dembele or anyone else are going to match the numbers or impact Messi or Cristiano had.

Remember Hazard dominating Ligue 1 at a very young age too? He's World Class, but anywhere near those two's numbers or impact? Nope.

Development isn't linear though. I don't think Ronaldo or Messi were the best players in any age class they played as teenagers. They probably were often outscored by people who aren't even playing professional anymore. What matters is really the time between 20 and 30 as a mature footballer and it's hella unlikely for any talent to become that good, so the safest bet is to always assume that a player will not become the next Messi or Ronaldo until one day a player does become that good. But I doubt that'll happen within the next 20 years.

He isn't just another talented youngster, he's an outlier amongst players of his age group same as El Fenomeno and Messi were before him. In which case, the safest bet is to refrain from making baseless assumptions about his career before he's turned 19 or completed a calander year of first team football.

Those comparisons are really for the future. Mbappe is enjoying his greatest year so far, while Dembele is recovering from injury. Again as Messi - Cristiano rivalry, they are different type of players. Also I don't believe that rivalry to be fulfilled until Mbappe joins Real Madrid one day. All I know is France NT manager is in trouble.

Do you lot really think he's going to join Real Madrid, or do you just tell yourselves that to make yourself feel better about PSG's rise?

because we'd rather see a potential generational talent at our biggest rivals

hopefully he stays at PSG

I think most Barca "supporters" that visit here more have more ill feelings towards PSG than they do Real Madrid. This forum itself has Qatar FC and Moneymar Jr. thread titles, while Morten can post here without being insulted and or trolled every other post.

Well idk truthfully from what i recall (can't say i really read the neymar/mbappe page a lot unless i've gone through all the other main threads i visit) Morten doesn't troll as much as certain people did in the neymar thread in the summer.

Real Madrid is disliked much more than PSG will ever be, the names used to describe Sergio Ramos and Ronaldo are creatively funny whereas i see more people in this forum have problems with PSG / Brazilian posters than PSG itself.
