Mbappe was in conversation for BDO this year and lost to a one-off half-sympathy candidate who nonetheless deserved it. And the other two. Again, don't be ridiculous underplaying his talent. Mbappe is doing the same things all elite forwards are doing and has 3 major titles under his belt before he even hit 21. He doesn't have to score as much as Ronaldo (and that Barcelona season was the most consistent year of his career) or be as hyped as Messi, which he kind of is anyway and is more important to his teams than Messi was at his age. A top top start to a career no doubt.

We'll see where he ends up. At this point we can all agree that he is the next big thing. Will he be able to compare to Messi one day or not is yet to be seen but I doubt it. They are just different. Mbappe relies more on his speed than Messi or even Ronaldo. Messi is just on another level compared to anything I have ever seen in my life. He is not just the best scorer but he also has best passing and dribbling skills out there. The ball is literally glued to his feet. And in tight spaces he can simply dribble trough 3 or 4 players. That's something no one else was ever able to do. Not to mention he is doing that for over 10 years now. So when comparing players we shouldn't just look at stats or awards but rather look at the entire picture. Messi is just different and he was different from the start of his career and anyone with eyes could see that. If I had to compare Mbappe with someone I would rather compare him with Brasilian Ronaldo (R9) than with Messi. For now let's just compare Mbappe to his generation and we'll see where he ends up.

Sure, whatever, I'm not too bothered. If someone hits 20 it merely means they've been here for 20 years and they're not 20 after their 20th birthday, by end of March he's already 21. Semantics anyway. Original point relates to Mbappe and his talent relative to other legends of the game at his age. In his position and given his trophy haul at the early age, as well as the influence and role he plays in the teams he is in, he is up there with the best there ever were at this point of his career, no matter whether you like the style or how many goals he scores. It is absolutely no use disputing that.
