Athletic without Laporte and San José tonight. Basically half of their defense. Iturraspe is still out as well. So the 34 year old Gurpegi, the average Rico and the ever disappointing Etxebarria are likely to play tonight.

They are going to play less than 3 days after their Espanyol match while RM has had 6 days of rest.

It will be very difficult for them to get anything out of tonight's match IMO.

Villarreal rested their 6 main players and still could've even won against RM at the Abu Dhabi Bernabeu as well.

Yes, but Villarreal are a much better team this year and did not face as many injury problems. It's not impossible for them to get a good result but I doubt it. The chances would have been better if they played against each other during a different period.
