I guess Flick just goes with what worked last game. Don't change what's not broken perhaps. And Fermin had 2 assists, not like he's Ferran.

But having option of throwing on Olmo is incredible.

It's fitness related mate. Also 47m.
He's well beyond recovery time. He was supposed to be back vs Sevilla, they didn't want to "risk" him. Then he didn't start vs Bayern it was "too early". Surely you'd expect him to start vs Madrid, but no.

Maybe we shouldn't have "risked" signing him in the first place?

So Fermin really is starting.

Makes me really doubtful about Olmo transfer. He's 100℅ fit for fucks sake, we all saw it against Bayern. This is NOT a game to rest crucial players.

Anyways, I'm sure Fermin won't disappoint. But still...

After the performance against Bayern i think it's deserved that Fermin starts. Could boost his confidence💯

He'll be able to sub in. So we good.

Olmo not starting because he's not 100% yet to give 60. You don't force a start if his backups/rotations are Fermin and Pedri. Let's not forget Pedri was ahead of him at the Euro.

As for Fermin, it's only his second start since returning from injury.

Should be much better than against Bayern, but perhaps won't be as productive.

Fermin will crush those bastards, he bleeds blue and red.

Our biggest issue is pena and the suicide line.

Those are estimates, really. Every recovery is individual. Olmo is obviously not deemed fit enough to play 60 minutes here. If he were, he'd be starting.

I don't doubt Fermin either. Just convinced Olmo would make a much bigger, much needed impact in the first half which would make it easier for us in the rest of the game - when Fermin can be subbed on.

Maybe Flick just trusts Fermin more here, which would be a dumb decision probably. Because everything to me indicates Olmo is fit enough. Played good vs Bayern and a long time since he came back from injury.

How are people still surprised that Olmo isn't starting, you didn't follow the club for the last months? Olmo didn't play against Sevilla and played 15 minutes against Bayern. How can you expect him to start the clasico?
He has neither the fitness to start yet, nor has the club the need to risk another injury in an early league clasico, especially if you can field the same team that trashed Bayern 3 days ago....
