Lionel Messi - v7

Have City ever sold a player for even quarter of what Barca got for Neymar?

It is all relative to the spending.

I believe the answer to my question is:
121.5m pounds. 121.5m pounds. 108m pounds. for Coutinho, Dembele and Griezman. So City highest spend of 68 m on KDB is certainly no embarrassment, my friend.

Transfer markt. co.uk for sums involved.

None of that is relevant to the question asked you muppet.

Lol, Manchester City fans trying to take digs at the transfer failings under one particularly clueless board - Barto?s.

How about you create a GOAT contender team with 3 Ballon D?Or finalists all from your own academy before acting like City have been anything but consistently average to terrible in the market . The only bargains I can think of are Aguero and Silva but are they really bargains if they didn?t win you the CL.

Those players were transfered in other times, 10 years ago. Now, City has splurged a lot of cash on defenders and fullbacks, c'mon, they and PSG are an embarassment and that's why that crook Perez wanted the SuperLeague. Chelsea too.

Totally agree, just embarrasing what City has done lately and the cherry of the cake is that they didnt even win the CL. Whats up with FFP, why PSG and city are able to bypass it ?!

Douglas was not a defender.

That year City spend minus sales was 200m.

They got all those defenders plus Silva, plus Douglas Luiz plus Jack Harrison. Eight players for 200 m.

My point being that is not an embarrassment.

KDB wages 18 m the highest earner.
Messi earning is it a million a week? Or 72 m Eur a year? Some would find that embarrassing.

Messi is a Barcelona player all his club career and as a Barca player he is a 6 times Ballon D'or , 6 time Europe golden boot winner , 10 times best player in Spain , 8 times Pichichi winner , 3 times Uefa Best player of the year , Fifa World player of the year , The Best Fifa Football Player , IFFHS player of the decade and Laureus award

So yeah , he got that sallary for a few years for his accomplishments and staying in a sinking ship. Of course KDB has 4 times less the sallary since he's at least 4 times less the player.

Also, has Messi gotten too much money in the past years ? Sure but don't imagine the sheiks not jizzing at the tought of paying a 28-30 yo. Messi +100 mil/season at the first chance they would have gotten.

Imagine sending 1 billion in the last 10 years only to serve up 1 shot on target in 1 CL final appearance.

Definition of embarrassment. Now go take a hike if your only agenda on a Barcelona forum is to prop up City and take shots at Barcelona.

That might not age well as of June 7th 2025.

We have been average to good spenders in the market outside of Barto's reign of terror. A lot of our high profile buys have been Ballon d'Or winners or contenders. Sure, a few complete flops but every great club has that.

City maximum pay out for a player is 68m. KDB. That is not an embarrassment to anybody.

How much was Coutinho, Dembele and Griezman?

Who was City before the takeover?Barca is a big name since the ages. They fund their own transfers with their brand and with their past succeses, not with dirty money from sheiks. And those stupid transfers bought Barca to their knees, i bet your dog's collar on it that City will never suffer from that because they have unlimited money, plus, as it is rumoured, they pay much more under the table than it really is. They are a disgusting little club who won the lottery and who, with much stricter and fairer rules, should have been punished for how they broke the market. The same with QSG too, which, in their defense, were a bigger club than City prior takeover. Still, that outrageous transfer of Neymar broke the market and they should have never been allowed to do that. The case of Mbappe too.

Argentina players are lacking vision; maybe cuz they need more chemistry and games together.
I saw many situations when there is an "unmarked" player but the argentinian holder of the ball doesn't seem aware of it.
+ Ocampos is so dumb.. I would rather see Correa or any other winger at his position.

Chile had only one chance to score in this first half and they did => bad defence from Argentina at the set piece. They should train better on that.

Overall, they have the potential to do much better.
Foyth in defence plays without intelligence sometimes. First he gave a poor pass with no reason (when he should give it to the keeper, easy) + he committed the unnecessary freekick that lead to Chile's goal.

1-1 at half-time. I expect Argentina to score a second goal. But some improvements should be made, of course.
