Bayern dont need to imagine as they wouldnt swap it.
That would make for some beautiful combinations,
But Muller runs like 13km each game, is crucial for their pressing, runs, creates space.
Tbh Messi just needs to start running again and he'll be the best in the world again.

doesn't have to run as much. he is better at finishing, passing, vision, spotting runs, dribbling, free kicks, playing one-twos etc.
i'm just pointing out the position and not the exact role. of course muller runs more, did that all his life.

Messi never ran a lot and certainly can't suddenly running more than 7-8 km while being 33 years of age. This is just the type of a player he is.
Then you just don't understand the fundamental basics of that Bayern team. Only a Muller type CAM works there because there are two actual wingers and a center forward. Without a high-workrate CAM, the team just crumbles defensively and effectively has only two midfielders.
Yeah and Muller doesn't have Messi's passing, finishing and scoring. Would you rather have a high workrate player or a goat?
It's not simple but it's doable. It takes the right coach to make the necessary tactical and squad adjustments.

I can't believe people on a Barca forum are trying to argue that Thomas Muller would be more valuable to any team than Lionel Messi. If Bayern thought they would have a realistic chance of getting Messi they would drop Muller in a heartbeat as would anyone else, the gap in quality between the two players is enormous. And it is easy for Bayern fans to say they wouldn't swap, but if the had the chance to in real life then Messi would be a Bayern player in the morning.
So? Why would Bayern fans want to replace a club legend who just had an legendary game. What does that prove?
If you want a real answer wait a month and ask this question to a 1000 random people.

Muller is invaluable to Flick's Bayern due to the system installed. Messi can't press and move off the ball in the way Muller does even if he is much better on the ball. It is not about Messi being the better player - he is. But he doesn't fit in that high press system at CAM.
This. If Messi moved to Germany, playing under Flick and surrounded by the hardworking Bayern players, using their nutritionists and having no amigos to pad him, you would see an elite Messi again. In 3 weeks he would be eating his Sauerkraut, drinking his milk before bedtime and running like a Fruhlingshuhn.
