Lionel Messi - v7

Exactly. How many saviours in Bayern? We need a balanced team with quality players in most positions. We need to set up a scouting department that rivals clubs like Bayern, City, and Liverpool. It's the second biggest club in the world and we make such glaring errors in squad building, that's most likely because the ones who handle that are politicians like Barto and his board members. No club with a sensible board would have spent 300m on Griezmann AND Coutinho.

We’ve lacked a wise sporting management department throughout Bartomeu’s reign. For all of Victor Font’s obsession with Xavi, one thing he does recognise is the need for a solid sporting department with people who know football. Laporta knew it, with Cruyff, Begiristain and Guardiola.
Bartomeu has been too involved with sporting decisions and it shows.

Lol. Who was the best player inthe world last season?

This proves nothing. Lewandowski is their best player, but he plays like a cog in a machine and doesn't carry anything. He does his part excellently, like Gnabry, Muller, Goretzka, Thiago and so on.

That's what we need. Players who do their job very well and don't make a fuss about having to work hard.

I believe now it's a bit of both. Surely he didn't like the discussion with Koeman. But yea, recent developments show he wants to move to a team where can win the CL. This is probably the main reason.

The theory never made sense to me. This is a guy who has been winning his whole career. Why would he repeatedly say this team isn't good enough, if all he wanted to do was play with his friends. Staying at Barca would have been the easier option.

He does not carry them like Messi carries Barca. Bayern are dynamic going forward with Gnabry, Coman and Perisic. Kimmich, Thiago and Goretzka are a good functioning midfield. Thiago and Kimmich individually get 100+ touches of the ball regularly in midfield or very close to it.
At Barca it’s usually Lenglet and Ter Stegen with those stats these day and then Messi progressively dropping deeper and deeper to collect the ball to create the goal or finish it.

If Cat Radio really had seen contract then no, that 5k article you posted was waste of time for author. Without release clause he can go, sign contract and Maj City doesnt need to pay anything until Barca takes them to court.

If he doesn't have release clause (which does not make any sense as the contract for the previous 3 years is 700m) then he will still need to go to Spanish court and get the release clause set, and paid out before he can move. He won't be able to just move for free.

The Spanish court may still set the release clause to 700m as that was the fee for the previous 3 years of the 4 year contract, and the precedent in Spanish football is that the release clause does not reduce with the length of the contract.

So even if none is set for the final year, it doesn't really mean that much right now. Messi is fighting to leave with the termination clause which his lawyers are saying is valid until end August.

???????????????

Watch literally any Bayern game last year. Lewandowski scores a lot of goals but he doesn't "carry" the team. Watch him during tough matches, how often is he scoring to save Bayern? Watch him in the first half of the season, where was Bayern when he was scoring loads? It didn't affect their position, they were midtable. Bayern only started dominating the league when the team as a whole improved.

Lewandowski this season is evidence that in modern football teams with one man saviors don't work, no matter how many goals one person scores if your team plays like shit they will most likely have inadequate results. Bayern thrived when they started playing as an elite team again because Hansi Flick. He did not " carry" Bayern to these titles, even if he was the best player in the world. Lewandowski had a great season, he deserves the ballon d'or, but building some sort of Maradona narrative for him is just purely inaccurate.

He obviously wants to win. But at the same time, him and his friends are a bit delusional. They made a lot of mistakes.

2 Problems:

1. He wants to win, winning lies in his nature
2. He wants to play with his buddies

Problem: Buddies arent good enough to win trophies anymore

Barca's solution: Sell buddies

Problem: Messi doesnt like it

---> escalation

I think the issue is that Messi (and the old core) believe they can still when IF surrounded by the right signings in the other parts of the 11 (Pique CB partner, RB, Xavi and Iniesta replacements, AML) and not with themselves being replaced or having to work harder and adapt.

Lol. Who was the best player inthe world last season?Remove Lewa from Bayern and they won't win shit.

Lewandowski got tons of chances to score goals. He is also the player with the most missed chances from the five big leagues but it didnt matter if you get chance over chance per match. Last season he was the best player in the world but he didnt carry Bayern.

I think it's even as little as having Neymar back. I think most of the seniors believe if we had gotten Neymar back we wouldn't be here today. They are a bit in denial about themselves.

One thing is for sure, they don't like reconstruction. Not Messi, and certainly not Suarez.

Here's why the theory never made sense. We don't know them or what goes on behind the scenes. What if, when he was saying this team isn't good enough, he was talking about the older players. He has known them a long time and isn't going to say you're not good enough anymore and you need to leave. That is the job of the board.

What if the theory behind his leaving is when he found out koeman told pique, busi and alba they are staying? We can speculate, but we'll never truly know.

Well but why did he support Valverde after the 4-0 hulimation in Anfield ? If he wanted to win he should knew that Valverde isnt the right man.
