They're pretty much doing exactly what Spurs did. They'd have been much better off blowing it all on one top player than squad filler.

I feel the same way. One difference is that BR is approving all these, not like Spurs who forced players onto AVB who didn't want half the players he got. Or no?

You guys had a 60M pound budget to begin with right? You haven't spent all of that with the signings yet, so I suppose with the Suarez money coming, you'll be fine.

So no one read my post then :D

We haven't spunked the £75m - well the majority of it yet anyway.

Plus it isn't just £75m we'll be getting. Agger is going which will bring in £10m or so and other possible outgoings include Lucas and Borini which should give us another £12-15m.
.

heard lucas unfollowed everything to do with liverpool on twitter. and there's also assiadi who'll be gone for 6-7m.

emre 10m - lucas 10m
lovren 20m - agger 10m = -10m
borini's agent keeps saying he wants to stay but if the asking 12m is paid he'll be off with assiadi (both 20m) - maybe pay for markovic

we're only paying 17m upfront for lallana and the 4m for lambert so (if sunderland couch up for borini) and the lovren and markovic deal go through we're only really spending 31m.
james pearce yesterday said we're still after moreno 20m. if we add that its 51m.

So how much are Liverpool planning to spend this summer? By your math's you'll still have over 100 million to spend but I don't think you there are many players available who can improve your starting XI.....Only alternative to not going the spurs way is not spending all the money because there are no world class players who cost 50m+ that you can sign...

this, it is all well and good having loads of money to spend but you have to spend it on the right players, i don't see any true world class player on the market that would be willing to go to liverpool so suarez will be a big loss for them. lambert, lallana, can and possibly lovren, as a united fan none of those signings have me worried, they improve the squad but don't make up for the loss of suarez or strengthen the starting 11. so long as united make the right signings in the remainder of the transfer window i am confident we can push them out of the top 4...

suarez wasn't world class when we bought him...

so far the buys have been good fits and the targets are great for the system too. sure i'd love big marque signing (ahem ahem muller kidnkapping) but we're doing the best FOR THE TEAM. man utd lined up with a list of names all of last season and we know how that ended...chelsea couldn't top our limited squad with their names either and spurs big name striker didn't even score on the same level as our defenders.

Good post. It is kind of what I have been trying to point out for months. We should concentrate on buying players that suit the system that the coach is going to play, they don't have to be top money marque signings. What they have to be is technically good and someone that we can mould into the player that we want.

What happened to "Barca make galactico's not buy them"?

We have a great striker upcoming (Munir El Haddadi) so I don't know why they decided to buy Suarez. Maybe they want to make an instant impact and win some trophies to calm down the fans and hide their incompetence.

There is no denying that Suarez is a great striker, but there are no guarantee's that he will be able to play with Messi. In fact the recent evidence would suggest that it is more likely that he won't fit well with Messi. We have tried with Ibra, Villa, Sanchez and even Neymar to a certain extent.

We can't solely rely on La Masia. It doesn't always produce Messis, Xavis and Iniestas. Sometimes it produces flops like Bojan, Cuenca, etc.

Not just La Masia players. We should scout players that we can make into galacticos. I can't believe that we only have 2/3 possible players as CB on our scouting list. It is a joke.
