The others on the list are diabolical though

Mata had like one good season at Chelsea and Marino still shipped his ass out to united
He was brilliant at Valencia though and that is when he and I watched him a lot at first. Though I like David Silva more, and he likes Mata more lol. He loves Villa as I say, I'd say he might be his favourite ever player. Not the best, but his fave.

He also loves Zidane and thinks he's up there as the best of all time.

Anyway my brother is a great guy and knows his football. Good with stats and numbers too as he works in accounting so backs his views sometimes with figures.

I won't hear a bad word against him.

Btw he dislikes Ronaldo as a person but he rates him higher than me as a player. He once told me his scoring record post 30 is amazing. I said to him it was more about him drilling into being a pure goalscorer and sacrificing other parts of his game, lol.

He just prefers Messi by a lot.

Damn I'd love to interact with your brother here. Sounds like a great dude with interesting opinions.
Hahaha he is. He's as outspoken as you and not as easily flustered as me (some exceptions) lol.

Like me football has been his life for 3-4 decades. He likely still watches more foreign football than I do too.

He's believes very strongly in his opinions too. To the extent I think that - unlike me - he considers different opinions absolutely clueless

Also, I haven't really talked to him about Lewandowski, but I think he likes him a fair amount as a player (I do too, but more than me I mean).

He doesn't like Kroos by the way

Great video. That parody account obviously loves him a lot as a player.

He's another who was an unselfish playmaking 9 and helped Mane and Salah score so many goals.

Here's a question (putting aside your liking for Ronaldo and your Liverpool supporting) - Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez or Mane, Firmino, Salah?
The United trio was better individually, but I think the Liverpool front three at their best was actually better as a unit. The rest of the team wasn't as good then, but the attack peaked in 17/18, especially during that CL run.

They had 44 g/a between them in CL that campaign.
Probably better individually, but you can argue that the Liverpool trio functioned better as a unit and for longer.

Agree on VVD. I have never rated Vidic - good player, he was amazing in the air but overall a clogger who constantly brought down players and wasn't good on the ball either. I'd take Van Dijk over him every day of the week and twice on Sundays. My brother would say the opposite.

Stam was miles better than Vidic, for me.
I half agree on Vidic. He definitely had his limitations, but he was an absolute monster against the long balls and crosses style of football most teams played in PL during his peak.

He might have struggled a bit for a team like Barca or Madrid in La Liga, but he was the best defender in PL for a few seasons and probably the most important player overall in the league for 2010/11 season.

Yeah agree on all mate.

I made the same point myself - I think the Liverpool three arguably had even better chemistry than the United three. No bias either as I rate all three of the United players highly.

Vidic was perfect for the physical, crossing style of PL football at the time. He'd have struggled in more technical leagues imo. But in the PL he was perfect for them. Good point.
