What do you think the right offer is? You'll be lucky to get £45m. Either way I find it very hard to see him in a Liverpool shirt next season. If he puts in a transfer request he goes.

what's so hard to understand?

we are living in a world where Torres went for £50m, Carroll went for £35m, Cavani went for £54m, Marquinhos went for £35m etc etc etc...

outside of Messi & CR7 i'd struggle to name many current players better than Suárez...

he is easily worth £50-60m in this market.

None of those guys have the baggage Suarez, none of them are cannibals. The others are certainly not worth those prices but you gotta take everything into account.

This. Torres and Carroll shouldn't be the benchmark for prices because of the obvious and the sugar daddy clubs shouldn't really count either.

Given that the only other club interested is Real, who are focused on Bale and are likely unwilling to engage in a bidding war, then 40 million is a fair price as far as I'm concerned.

That's a tad over-rating Suarez... No wait a minute, I chagned my mind. It's too much over-rating!!

Suarez is a damn good player. but he has changed to worse after moving to Liverpool. The many times I saw him in the red one of Merseyside jerseys, he seemed to have forgotten that football is actually a team play! Being technically better than a lot of players in England, he was actually vastly over-rated!!

But nevertheless, if it were down to me... I'd still take the risk of spending high on him, as he is only 26 and still has his prime years ahead of him! But only if I have a manager tough enough to be able to put Suarez in his place, like say VdB, Capello, etc !!

some great logic in this thread.

Arsenal know about Suárez biting people and have decided they want to buy him anyway so Liverpool shouldn't have to factor in his bad behavior and discount his price! it's not like they're desperate to sell him.

also saying the oil clubs spending 'shouldn't count' as a reference point is childish IMO. what we just pretend it didn't happen?! i'm sorry but if Torres & Cavani went for £50m+ then Suárez should go for more, whether he bites people or not, plain and simple.

finally it may seem like Suárez has 'forgotten that football is actually a team game' because he has been playing alongside mostly average players and had to put the team on his back and carry them for a long time.

Yeah force a club pay more money than they're willing(or should) to spend on a guy, who despite his undoubted skill and potential to help deliver trophies, has an equal chance of damaging the clubs reputation as well as trying to eat another players legs off and proceed to miss what could be vital matches in the clubs attempts to either make the top 4 or win a trophy. Stand back, we have a rebel here.

 @ a chelsea fan getting on his high horse over a player's bad behavior and the possibility of him damaging a club's reputation...

I'm probably in the minority of Liverpool fans here but I really wouldn't mind seeing him go even for 40m. He said he wanted to leave because he felt persecuted by the English press but last time I checked Arsenal are still in England. I wouldn't have much of a problem if he said he wanted to leave for CL football (kind of gotten used to hearing that by now), but the fact he basically lied about it is disappointing. Not to mention the continued disciplinary problems that I don't see stopping any time soon, it's just how he is.

i still think Liverpool are right to want more for him but i agree that selling him now wouldn't be a bad move for them. i don't really understand why he thinks moving to Arsenal will be so much better anyway. Real Madrid i get because it would clearly be a step up in his career and he will have a chance to escape the English media & seriously compete for trophies at the top level playing alongside players of his caliber but the only thing Arsenal can realistically offer him that he doesn't already have is CL football and it's not like they're going to win it! so basically he will get to play a few games in the CL and not win it, not win the EPL etc...whereas if he stayed at Liverpool this season i'd say they'd have a similar chance to Arsenal of finishing 4th...
