Looks like no transfers for us this month. Not necessarily a bad thing but we could have done with another player in midfield. I think with only 1 game a week the squad should cope easily enough.

this 'lets make gerrard pirlo but gerrard-er' plan looks so good on paper but the biggest flaw i've seen is how gerrard makes everything big. he takes touches that stretch galaxies and beyond, as a dm you have to know when to go big or when to got timid and just dumb down your play. could it work? well if it did you have ur self a brilliant dm - better than lucas? properly not. but for the time being, with lucas injured, i'd give it another go before throwing in joe 'flooring yaya toure since 2012' allen. there's even some talk of get gerrard out, the midfield was better without him. well it was...but i wouldn't go that far yet.

This reminds of Gerrad saying a few years back that He wasn't old enough to play Scholes role yet and in a couple of years he could easily play in that role...

how is this a scholes role in any way?

big big difference the pirlo role and the scholes role...and tbf big difference between the pirlo role and what BR is trying to pull off.
scholes role is closer to xavi role.

What is BR trying to do with him? I think he's just not prepared to drop him...Gerrad's distribution is not good enough and he's not patient with the bale to play the role of deep lying playmaker....and there is no point in playing a attacking midfield player in his 30's as a defensive midfielder instead of playing someone who specializes in that postition

abit of an exaggeration on the 'not good enough' but yh ur spot. just have to wait and see what br means by 'pirlo role'
