Luis Suárez

Love Suarez for what he's good at (his near miss volley around 18 minutes), but man, it would be so much better to have a player who has a better touch for 1-2 wall passes. There was a great team move right after, Messi-Coutinho-Suarez that he ended after a brilliant layoff from Coutinho. And then he missed that sitter from Leo a few seconds later.

His best wall pass is the dummy.

Still, Suarez’ “fighting”, workrate, never give up, physical ability and hunger:) along with his defensive work at set pieces and goalscoring is something you wont get with a twig like Griezmann. Teams will be back parking busses and our midget team wont break it.

His ability to win the balls from set pieces has been vital in our defensive set up . He wins lot of balls in the air

Don't feel like reading this thread. Was bad but I'll always appreciate his contribution.

What an atrocious display, it's been a long time since the last one from him . Instant flashbacks to his 2017 form. I will pretend I did not see it.

We do need Griezmann but the problem is he is not Suarez in his prime. No one is better No.9 for Barca than Suarez in his prime.

If there's one thing I won't criticize is his commitment and hunger.

The thing about Suarez is he never was the fastest nor most technical skilled Forward out there. But he made up for it with his fighting spirit and hunger and even at Liverpool and even during the treble season he has shown some good creative plays at times and his finishing was on point.

But even at his age you (31) you really feel like he should doing much better than he has. His passing was never great but it was much better than what he has shown this season, same with his decision making these days he either complicates the shit out of it or gives the ball away to quickly before he can properly think and his positioning in reading the game has got to be better, I can't count how many times he's been caught offside.

He fights and is a Barca legend, but more is expected of him. If he does this in the CL we're not winning that competition for sure. He need to be clinical there and improve his overall play.

And for god sake stop jumping over the ball/dummying when there's no one behind. Take a quick look over your shoulder at least please.

Yeah because you don't see Griezmann running his lungs out and fighting for every ball, making clearances and running back to help his team, putting pressure forward for Atletico in a Diego Simeone setup that demands a fighting, warrior mentality

I'm not even the biggest fan of Griezmann, but come on let's not try to claim something that's not true at all. The guy works his ass off, especially when he's isolated and got no help. Sure he doesn't have the physical attributes of Suarez, but in return he's far, far better with his general play, link-up play and is actually useful in the air with headers given his height where Suarez barely makes runs into the box when a cross is delivered in.

I'm not saying Griezmann will be a better striker than Suarez as they're different type of players, each bring something different, but what both got in common is that they work their asses off.

He does this a lot and it works sometimes too, but lately he seem to be doing it randomly without bothering to look for a player behind him. Usually he does it when he knows there's someone else who can receive it so it works and tricks the defender, but now he's just strange with it.

Maybe he does really well in practice sessions and just ends up unlucky during game-time? If he showed the same form during training, Valv would have subbed him with Paco or used Messi in F9.

Or is the pacman showing even less form in practice? who knows. And we've seen it before with Suarez, sometimes he's got a string of no-shows only to follow them up with brilliant performances. So tough to fault Valv with this one. Could go either way. A case of damn if you do and damn if you don't.

Barto should think out of the box and add a gypsy fortune teller to the staff.

He will always score goals with players like Alba, Roberto, Iniesta, Coutinho, Messi and Dembélé around but his all round play is atrocious and has been since January last year. And for a team that relies on quick link-ups to create spaces around the box it’s a handicap having him on the field.

I said it before, I wasn’t fooled by his sudden goal scoring exploits. The problem runs much deeper than that and he is the focal point of the attack.
