Nah, he doesn't play because he's not good enough. But still, did he ever play LCB?

He's been paired with Pique numerous times. He only plays RCB when Pique isn't, which is only starting to happen now that he's solidly 5th choice and will only play when most of the starters aren't playing.

good old days when people wanted him to get the legendary Number 5, from Puyol

It would have made his career. If he'd have been given that level of faith at any point in his time with the first team we'd probably have a much different player on our hands today.

There's a lot of what ifs in regards to several La Masia players that have came through recently.

But at least Roberto turned out great. (Even if it took till this season to finally show his true Potential.)

That is an extremely naïve way of thinking of how young players develop.

Minutes/gaining experience is what develops a players careers more than anything. Not giving them a legends shirt and telling them 'No pressure!' with a pat on the back.

If we were serious about wanting Bartra to be our no.1 CB in a few years time, then we should have him out at a team where he will be getting minutes, like what Pique got.

would it have solved his physicality problem? or his getting too committed to his man leaving him exposed time and time again?
because otherwise he is a very good defender

You misunderstand me. Giving him the shirt would be almost certainly come with him actually being considered a player by our coach. It'd be pretty comical to see the player hand picked by Puyol to be the next #5 not being able to make the bench against Sporting Gijon.

Those are things that would get worked out by playing time. You're listing the flaws he has as a player but he never got the opportunity to fix those flaws. Granted, it's partly his fault for actually sticking around throughout all of this, so I don't exactly feel sorry for him.

Barta has had more than enough chances in the Barca first team to prove himself.

Young players are not given endless minutes and opportunities to prove iron out flaws in their game. At a club like Barca the young players need to evolve quickly and take their chances when they get them,. Barta hasnt done that.

Bartra is fine for a rotational game here and there for Barca but not "Good" enough to be a starter here vs the Strong teams.

A lot of people had High Hopes for him and a number of guys like Fontas,Muniesa,Montoya but sadly they weren't starter material for us in the end. I remember some Cules were pretty hyped for Sergi Gómez but man he's hasn't been even that great for Celta.

Bartra could stay here but as a Rotational player at best.
