In that case i mustve missed it because ive only read about some meetings with agent + barca representative and rumours about him about to tell Nasser he would like to leave PSG.

Never said Roberto is better. Iniesta just isn't capable of starting anymore. There's a reason he's leaving after this season and it's not because he doesn't like Messi's beard.

the same thing we heard about dani alvez too. Look how it turned out. few people only realize better how good some players are when they don't play and some else has has to fill their shoes.

Iniesta without doubt will be our best midfielder next season too, even if verratti comes

Iniesta is finished at this level, sad to say but its true. hes on high wages as well. if hes our best midfielder next season we are quite simply fucked

Not sure where Iniesta came in from, but if it's true that Valverde actually will employ a two-man midfield, then Iniesta won't be the starter anymore.

When it comes to Busquets and the double pivot conundrum, then was he ever paired with a player with supreme passing and positioning along with decent defensive skills? Mostly paired with Mascherano which is why it never worked.

This is very unlikely but imagine something like this if the club is willing to spend enough money and we're able to sign these players;

If we buy Verratti and a RB, I can see Iniesta as Cam in 4231 with Neymar-Iniesta-Messi line.
If we buy a Rw, Iniesta is out and Messi is a Cam.
If Messi is a Cam, Rw will be a new transfer or Rafinha/Roberto/Vidal/Denis/Munir etc.

If we'll play 433, even with Verratti, we'll have Iniesta-Verratti or Verratti-Rakitic.
In 4231, as said above, Iniesta still has chances.

Btw, I also think that Iniesta is done.
But he will probably play a lot at least one more season before a coach will lose faith in him.
He still has (too many) credits, to some extent, due to a long, awesome career and it is hard to remove him suddenly.

Nobody ever questioned Dani's ability to play every week, it was his ability that was questioned, and those questions were silenced while he was still here, before he left of his own will and left us high and dry.

I agree with Jamdav in that Iniesta hasn't had a top season in years now. His stats are worse than they've ever been and even if you try to watch his game and ignore stats he still isn't showing anything really impressive. He's not our best midfielder and he certainly won't be when Verratti comes. He's our "best midfielder" in the same way Puyol was our "best defender" right before he retired. That's okay, though. All players decline as they get older, and Iniesta turns 34 this coming season. As I said, there's a reason he's leaving after this season ends.

How do you think that team would work defensively?
