Caceres plays like a fucking stud in a defensive team (two defensive teams if you count Uruguay) and y'all are slating Pep for chucking him out of our attacking team?

riiight.

anyway if him and Javi Varas don't play like that against Real Madrid (they won't, they'll bend over and take it like everyone does) I'm gonna be pissed off.

...but then Italy had no answer for Martín Caceres who was a defensive beast; besides providing the cross to Sebastián Fernández who chipped in the game winner in the 3rd minute of play, Caceres was surgical in 99% of his challenges, always coming away with the ball.

Nah, I'm gonna apprentice under Bielsa at Athletic, and then campaign to change the policy from Basques-only to Basques and Uruguayans only.

Think about the sheer manliness of a half-Basque, half-Uruguayan team..the tackles would be ridiculous.

Pep would take care of that... He's going there after his tenure here anyway!!

Or you could tamper with Caceres birth certificate and find out that he was really born in the Basque country :D

La Celeste Blog on Caceres vs Italy:

two things:

1. he needed two years of being a regular disaster for Juve and Sevilla before he found his groove. we couldn't have afforded him that kind of time.
2. his success is coming in more defensive teams, and mostly at fullback.

both of those things means he had to leave to make good on his potential, and that's if he ever had the right style to make it for us anyway.

but still, I'm happy for him. nobody could wave a flag like Marty.

And Martin strikes back! Two goals against Milan, and the second was a thing made of pure beauty!

So, now he has more goals than Torres too, hahaha...
