Are you saying this just to gloss over the fact that Pique has to defend for Alves all the time? Even if we get Thiago Silva its hard to be in two places at once when your FB is in the oppositions penalty box....

Fanboyism to a whole new level...

What fanboyism?, this isn't about Alves. It's about having a RB that can act as a midfielder in possesion. Alves, whether you admit it or not, fits that profile, and that's why we was our starting RB in every freaking season since 2008/09.

But we don't concede every game. We have the 2nd best defence in the league, conceded only 7 goals more than Atletico. And that with a bad CB pair for most of the time. If we buy a world class CB, we will rock. The RB must be offensive-minded IMO, and if we sell Alves, I'd take Cuadrado.

You are naive if you think our defensive problems will just go away if we get Benatia....

Why does it have to be the rightback that is attacking minded? Our most dangerous flank right now is Alba-Iniesta-Neymar, whether you admit it or not. Alves is old and we should move on. An Alba-Cuadrado fb pair is not the answer. Fanboyism to the max ffs.

So, in your oppinion Alba's role in this current Barcelona is that of an attacking minded fullback? Is that why when Demichelis was sent off Alves got specific orders to play in an even more advanced position? In this Barcelona, Alves is the offensive fullback, Alba the more conservative one. Just like Ursegor said, and said it right.

Alves declined, but his role in this Barcelona side is the same as it was under Pep. Just that he's lost that power to cover space as well as he did in the past.

Look, I know you like Dani Alves. But based from his comments and the rumors that are going around, Alves is gone this summer. It's time to move on.

If we get Benatia and with Luis Enrique's emphasis on fitness, I'll put it in writing that our defensive problems will drastically reduce.

Fitness+Emphasis on defending as a team. Messi/Iniesta/Neymar/Alves/FBs etc have to do a lot more defensive work. Too many times players are jogging back when teams counter against us leading to 3 or even 4 vs 2 situations where our CBs get exposed. Then ppl diss Bartra and Pique instead of blaming Alves/Iniesta/Messi for not doing defensive work

Fanboyism to the max ffs.

Yeah serghei its just me being an Alves hater

This will change with Lucho.

I didn't bring Alves in this. Cule4life did. I was speaking about a concept, a concept that was presented in Ursegor's post about Alba and Montoya being too similar, a post which I commended, because I think it was pretty much spot on.

On the right, we need a RB that is the profile of Alves/Marcelo (for LB)/Cuadrado.

Other than Alves right now, there isn't another fullback in the world that plays like him. So getting a rightback in that mold is going to be incredibly hard.

According to serghei he is....

Yea, it is the concept of offensive-minded RB which is a lot like a midfielder, given the fact that we own the ball 70-75% of the time. It applies only for our team and Pep's teams. He can be a RB, but only for teams like us and Bayern.
