Key moment of the game, if this cross gets through I think we score. Great block by the Bilbao defender.

He should have crossed the ball early. It took way too much for him to cross the ball and the defender had time to catch up on him.

He was better than the other defenders but since he is the youngest he gets all the blame. And no useless crosses and turnovers form him like Dani but people wont notice that

tbh one of those useless crosses won us a SuperCup.

And a champions league semi final (2009).

But montoya would be fine if he had a more attacking fullback partner in alba. Adriano is usually good but his form dropped because of the injury, i swear everytime he passed the ball he gave it away.

Odd that those crosses and turnovers are so useless but that Alves is infinitely better at attacking the Montoya is... "Since he is youngest he gets all the blame"? Why aren't we blaming Busquets for our failings in midfield since he's the youngest out of our three midfielders? Montoya offered nothing going forward and was regularly beaten by Muniain, that's why we thought he was the worst defender.

We have had chronic defensive problems by playing two attacking fullbacks and still people want every fb to be great at attacking? Yesterday Adriano was much worse than Montoya and the goal also came from his side. Neither did he contribute in the attack. Pair alba with Montoya and our side will be balanced. Also Masch being clueless also put pressure on Montoya's side. And do I have to explain what I mean by the youngest? It means the most inexperienced newcomer.
And he didn't do too bad against Munian compared to pique who let him get ahead of a cross when he should have scored a tap in and masch who failed to track him during the goal.

If you put in a 1000 crosses you are bound to get one on target. And it's not 2009 anymore. Dani has declined so have his crosses. Was Abidal a beast at attacking? Was he useless to our team then? He complemented Dani which gave balance to the squad. If we sell Montoya who will we get? The mighty Zuniga? Who is terrible at defense? After what happened with Bartra we should give Montoya the benefit of the doubt especially since he isn't the worst compared to our other defenders. Can't expect him to be Dani like at attacking, we have alba for that. How can Montoya attack when we can't even get the ball out of our own half?'

Yes, we need those outlets provided by the fullbacks, Montoya got the ball in their half or final third and did absolutely nothing with it. That picture on the top of this page where he dilly-dallied for a year and didn't get the cross off because of it and a random flick from either Xavi or Cesc that he also fluffed were his only notable moments in the final third.

Pair alba with Montoya and our side will be balanced.

I don't understand this idea at all, all that does is make it so we can't properly attack on one flank; it's not the two attacking fullbacks that hurts us, it's that they are both up at the same time and leave us with two center backs and Busquets to stop counters. If Alba stays back while Alves goes up and vice versa, I guarantee we will be fine and we'll not limit ourselves attacking wise.

Was Abidal a beast at attacking?

I don't know, you tell me...

I would take 1/1000 instead of 0/0 any day of the week.

pique who let him get ahead of a cross when he should have scored a tap in and masch who failed to track him during the goal.

Those are isolated incidents, they mean absolutely nothing. You wouldn't say Messi was poor against a defense because he missed a chance, no reason you should say a defender was poor because he let an attacker slip by him. Are those incidents worth looking at and commenting on? Yes. Does one incident mean a player was actually poor? No. Every time Muniain took on Montoya he got past him, I don't remember once thinking, "Nice defending," when Montoya was involved. I do not think we should offload him, but he played poorly and needs to step his game up with how few fullbacks we currently have.

And do I have to explain what I mean by the youngest? It means the most inexperienced newcomer.

Oh yeah, like we hate on Roberto and never want him to play, or like how we want to keep Pedro and sell Deulofeu, or how we've blamed Bartra for when we conceded goals this season. All of us hate kids, it's the sad truth of it.

Yes i agree that Montoya didnt play well and needs to improve. But he needs to be given regular chances and the chance of nailing down a permanent starting spot. How would you feel when you know that you wont be a regular plus having contract issues on top of that? But im baffled by some people who say "OMG was the worst player on the pitch. OMG he isnt barca material. Sell Sell Sell!! Buy the mighty Zuniga who will be our saviour!!"

Oh, ignore that. Everyone always goes on about some humongous squad overhaul and "Xavi is passed it (get it hahahah) and Puyol sucks" and "Pique sucks, sell him" and "Honestly beginning to doubt Tata because I know so much more about everything" after we lose, it's nothing. After Montoya starts playing well again it'll be the usual "Oh Dani sucks his crosses suck we should sell for 15 million Montoya should start", it's ridiculous.

I honestly don't know who we could get for a rightback if Montoya is sold and Alves eventually decides to leave.

Atletico's Manquillo. Better talent than Montoya. 3 years younger. We have first option on him which means the club was clever enough to consider that option.

If Alves was a serious personality he could easily go on for another 3 or 4 years by the way. His recent injuries are correlating with change in lifestyle, no doubt about it. He's won it all and is enjoying posing on Instagram and competing with Pinto and Song for the stupidest outfit while giving press conferences now.

Azpilicueta? He doesn't seem to get much love on Mou's team - just sell us Sideshow+ Azpilicueta for a fare price of 40M and we ship of Montoya for 15M :)
