The thing with the Bundesliga is that it isn't a league as strong as people believe. It's a fabolous league generally. Full stadiums. Good atmosphere. No debts. Free-flowing football. But Dortmund finished the table with 81 points after 34 games last season. Last season Barcelona in La Liga had 84 points after 34 games and Real Madrid had 88 (in a record breaking season). Do you guys believe Dortmund could have accumulated 81 points in La Liga after 34 games? Keeping up with Barca and Real Madrid?! Almost 26 points above Valencia? No. It's only possible in the Bundesliga because the league is so much weaker than La Liga or the Premier League. Arsenal had 64 points after 34 games last season. Do you think Dortmund could manage to be 17 points ahead of Arsenal in the Premier League? Dortmund's goal difference after 34 games was 80:25. Arsenal's: 67:43.

Point is: Hummels isn't up against quality teams week-in-week-out in the Bundesliga. I'm quite confident a lot of our youth players would easily get into this Dortmund side. Montoya, Bartra, Thiago, Rafinha, Deulofeu. They would be Bundesliga heroes. The Neymar comparison was quite good. And I'll add something else to that. The Bundesliga is the Brazilian league of Europe. Attractive, full of young talents, free-flowing. But simply not strong enough generally. Bar Bayern.

Yeah, not strong enough. Which leagues bar the mighty EPL and our own are strong then? All are shit, right? And what would that prove. Yaya came from the French league and was immense. Opposite to that, Caceres looked money in La Liga and then was shit for us.

Typical mentality these days, everything is shit but Barca, Real and few EPL teams.

To be honest I don't follow Dortmund much and the only time I saw Hummels was at the Euros and he was just brilliant wasn't he. I'm not going to read much into the criticism since it was the same story after Germany's loss to Italy. Hummels made a big mistake in that game, but overall was one of Germanys better players on the night. I'm convinced he wouldn't have looked so bad if Low was a better tactician and gave Italy a bit of respect. Playing such a high line against a counter attacking team and you're asking for trouble. I mean both German CBs on the night were in Italy's half most of the time, surely under instruction from Low, especially when you put the Germans pre game comments in context.

lol Way to miss the whole point of my post. I didn't say anything about Barca, Real and few EPL teams being good and the rest being shit or that talents from France couldn't produce elsewhere. I said the Bundesliga in general isn't on the same level as La Liga and the EPL (see, I'm talking about whole leagues, not about certain teams). Dortmund almost reached the same point tally in the Bundesliga as Barca and Real in La Liga. There are only 2 explanations. Either Dortmund is on the same level as Barca and Real. Or the level of the Bundesliga is considerably lower.

I know a certain team that is constantly playing a high line with their centrebacks in the opposition's half. :pep:

There's a reason we didn't buy Hummels even though he was available for dead cheap and he even suggested a lot of times that he would love to play here, which of course means he wouldn't cost us much in wages either.

Hummels just cannot be an adequate partner for Pique. He's great on his own, just not compatible with Pique. Could be a great alternative for Pique, but our lad is here to stay for a long, long time. I think it's just like in the case of Ozil... we could have but we chosen not to sign him!!

I was actually pondering on saying except Barca in my post, but I didn't think anyone would be gullible to suggest Barca as a counter example. The German NT can only dream of pressing and retaining possession like that certain team :tito:

The centrebacks of that certain team can only dream of being protected by a double pivot.

Yeah. What a fool I am to talk about Barca's highline when talking about a possible Hummels transfer to ... Barca.

Well I don't really know or care if Gemrnay had a double pivot, my point was that the only team that can afford to have it's center backs going forward so often is Barca, and even for Barca that backfires a lot, just look at our Milan and Chelsea games last season. In the Barca system when a CB gets foirward, they usually have enough time to get back into position since the team can keep possession and get it's shape back flawlessly. Low's defenders were going forward recllessly as if Italy ddidn;t even have an attack, at the same time they left Pirol free in the middle of the pitch, usually Busquets doesn't let opposition CMs breathe so easily.

Well as I said, if you look at that game Budstuber also went forward a lot, I know Hummels also attacks a lot, but I think Low should have dealt with Pirlo before instructing his CBs to attack relentlessly.

Your own camp.

Ah ok, and because "my camp", which I am the representative of, claims that, I have to defend this stance. Now that makes sense, doesn't it ?

Or it could mean that the Bundesliga is more evenly balanced.
