Matthijs de Ligt

There are new stories circulating, claiming that PSG are prepared to pay De Ligt’s agent’s commission of 11 million !!

The game should just kick these bloodsucking agents out of the picture somehow... change the legislation or something..

Basically: I love Barca.
But: I will come to you ONLY when you match the highest offer, lol.

If some other player would have been doing this shit (a player less loved by our fans), people would use a very, very nasty words in this topic.
For a reason.

This guy loves us, but will milk a transfer record amount of money for Ajax, himself and his agent.

Fine, but dear Matthijs, you better perform like a best paid defender right away after you sign.
You asked tons of money, now show your worth.

If not, you will get a lot of shit.
For a reason...

You won't get a free pass for 3-4 years until you adapt.

If you read the last several pages of this thread and comments on various twitter pages regarding his latest rumors, you will see many Barca fans have turned against him quite a bit and understandably so.

At this point nothing is certain as the latest information from the Catalan radio (actually not much has changed in the last two to three weeks) shows the only way he will join us would be him rejecting better offers from allegedly Manchester United, PSG and possibly Bayern and accepting the lower offer from us, which is quite unlikely, since he has already held out this long, he probably would go with one of the higher offers to make Raiola and himself happy. One thing we have made clear is that we will not budge.

I think that this will all depend on Umtiti who we will sell this summer.
Sell Umtiti and we'll get de Ligt.
I suspect it has nothing to do with Raiola's demands, but with playing time that de Ligt wants. So I think Barto promised de Ligt something like Frenkie: we'll sell a defender, in this case Umtiti, and for that you'll be promised playing time. Once we find a suitable offer and club for Umtiti, the deal will be getting much closer.

Its about money for both him and his greedy agent , it always is. Todays players dont give a damn who they play for as long as they get the most amount of cash.

reports are saying the issue is Raiola and Barca not wanting to pay him. nothing about the wages we offered.

personally im starting to think we told De Ligt to be patient while we shift some players, most notably Umtiti. during this time, Raiola is doing what he does best pimping his client around the worlds elite/rich looking for a better deal.

if De Ligt is truly hellbent on Raiola representing him and its really all about money, he'll end up at United or PSG if CL is a big draw for him

exactly what I think too. Once we hear rumors about us selling Umtiti, and they're beginning, the deal will look to be much closer to be finalizing. We need to sell Umtiti though for that to happen.

If it turns out to be about money, he'll end up at United or PSG. I'm still betting on him to come here.

Regarding these kids who "love" Barca but have 10M Net wages and millions paid to their agents, do you guys remember when Paulinho signed for Barca?

Paulinho, who joined Guangzhou from Tottenham for €15m two years ago, also confirmed in a separate interview with Mundo Deportivo that he took a hit on his salary in order to push through his move to Barca.

Asked if he took a pay cut, he said: "Yes. I've always been someone who put my career first and this was a chance which may not come up again, so I did everything I could to be able to play for Barca.
"At the end of the day, money's never the most important thing. I have come here to fulfil a dream, to win titles and to be happy."

That is WHAT you do when you "love" a club and when you are willing to do anything for your career.
De Ligt and these kids are a comedy gold with 100M transfer fees, wages higher than 10M Net and 10+ Millions for their agents.
(Will his agent play for us or what when he will get such amounts of money?)

For example, if Raiola is asking for 10M:
Cillessen is earning 3,2M Net yearly.
Vermaelen 3,2M yearly
Arthur 3,5
Rafinha 3,5

So, basically, an agent Raiola will earn as much as Arthur/Cillessen/Rafinha will earn in 3 years of actually sweating and playing football here.
But, Matthijs loves Barca :papaperez::pep:

I thought the same happened with DeJong?

Indeed! The amount of money that this leech wants disgusts me.
Its not as if he's doing anything difficult either. A trained chimp could negotiate a contract for one of the most sought after players in the world

I thought the same happened with DeJong?

I see De Ligt's transfer as more "disgusting" and more over the top.

I see Frenkie as a really good midfielder, who could be a generational talent.
While De Ligt is "just" a defender.
You know, there is a bigger difference between Xavi and Rakitic (the best midfielder and normal midfielders) than between Puyol and Lenglet, for example.

Also, De Ligt will be THE MOST EXPENSIVE defender in a history of football or the top3 with Van Dijk and Hernandez.
But, it is yet to be seen how much we will pay for De Ligt after this crazy bidding war, games from his agent, and games from MD and Barto's papers who are selling these lies how other clubs are offering way more in order to make this transfer a success when we'll pay "only" 90-100M in the end plus wages and agent fees.

While, with Frenkie, there were more expensive or similar transfers:
Coutinho 160M, Pogba, Zidane in 2001, James, Di Maria, De Bruyne, Lemar, Kaka

So, in my eyes, De Jong's transfer was a normal expensive transfer of a top rated young midfielder.
While De Ligt's transfer is an over the top crazy transfer similar to crazy transfers of Dembele (145m) and Coutinho (165M).
One of them is injured and disconnected all the time, the other struggles in all football aspects. Barto paid 310M WITHOUT wages for them.

Imagine if De Ligt flops here.
That will be 400+ Millions invested only in transfer fees.
And around 100M gross per year for 3 wages

Only for injured Dembele and Coutinho, Barca has spent around 400-420 Millions in fees and gross wages in only 2 years.
Add 80-100M for De Ligt and these 3 wages in the next season and that will be 600M spent over the last 3 years (for these 3 players).

It is hard to blame only EV when Uncle Barto is spending money in such "a reasonable way" (to save his position and please the fans who want to see big names joining us).

We dont know what's going on behind the scenes though.
De Ligt seems like a nice, level headed person who doesnt go to clubs for money. Of course, I could be wrong if he eventually goes to PSG or United.
But I stand by my prediction that Barca are willing to pay whatever Raiola wants, its just that Barca are waiting to sell Umtiti as promised to de Ligt so then they can go ahead and finalize the transfer. Just like the Frenkie case.

the more i hear and read about Raiola, the more i think we should pull out of this transfer.

Raiola can go ahead and milk United like he did with the Pogba deal, only to approach City, their rivals, about a transfer there  this fucker would do the same with De Ligt to Madrid behind our backs i have no doubt about it, he has no shame atall.

go for Upamecano if we must replace Umtiti.

NO to Raiola, don't want him anywhere near our club, poisonous snake. if Figo was still playing he'd be his agent for sure.

From what I’ve seen and heard from and about this lad I’m totally flummoxed as to why he’d associate with this scumbag of a person ..

To be fair, De Ligt never proclaimed that he loves Barca. He is NOT a Barca fan like De Jong. He is attracted by us primarily because of business reasons (the fact that we are one of the biggest and best clubs and the fact we pay handsomely) and perhaps because his best friend is going to play here.

He doesn’t love Barca.

However in general I agree with BBZ’s sentiment. The fact that De Ligt did not accept our offer (which is reportedly the same as what we offered De Jong) says a lot about him and how he sees himself.
