He was very involved in the game, with 104 attempted passes (92,3% success rate). A lot of short progressive passes through the lines, but no true decisive ones. He was playing very much like Xavi in this game, against an opponent who sat back, giving away the responsibility for the decisive actions to the wingers or the ones up front most of the time, reliably getting the ball in a nice way to them. Puig also had a couple of nice dribbling runs, and he intercepted the ball nicely when the opponent tried to counter a couple of times. A decent attempt at a free kick in the keepers corner, but a bit too soft and to the middle, and some more shooting attempts, one that was blocked and one that was also a bit too soft to trouble the keeper. He crossed the ball nicely one time I remember as well.
He was very frustrated throughout the game and gestured towards his team mates and the referee. He was awarded a yellow early for talking, but continued to be in the refs face after that.
The game had three penalties, first Nashville scored, then Chicharito missed his second in a row, and then Galaxy got their second one in the 98th or so minute, the last kick of the game. Chicharito moved away from the box and didn't dare to take it, but Puig stepped up. I thought it was nice by him.
