Recently saw a FB picture of Messi in white and Ronaldo in blue and scarlet. Got me thinking. If Messi was in the current Madrid team while Ronaldo was in the current Barca team, who do you think would win if the teams squared off? Or do you believe it would end in a draw?

I apologize for the pretty troll question, but I'm really interested in knowing what people here think.

I would probably bet on Barca edging it. With Ronaldo and Pedro on the wing and Alexis/Cesc/Villa as forward, they have an amazing forward line with of course XIB behind them.

Messi could feature either in Ozil's position or as a forward. Personally I don't think he would fare as amazingly as he does now since he needs the ball to do his moves, and to account for his failed moves as well. On the other hand, we've not seen the recent Messi playing with full freedom and space. Argentina-Spain ended in 4-1 but that was a friendly and hence I'm not considering it.

It would be the same as it is now. A tight encounter with the day form, tactics and luck being the decisive factor. I mean, what kind of question is this? In the first leg Supercopa we should have won 4-1. A week later we could have easily lost 1-4. That's how slim the margins are at that level.

Is the question about how the teams would do, or the players? Messi would still be the best player, and that would be a nightmare if he played for rm. rm would be build around him as well.

Fair enough. Although, if you ask me, the current Barca would win the majority as we only seem to be losing due to individual mistakes/experimentation/slacking off which you cannot expect to happen every game.

Also the current results are only so close as the two philosophies are perfect against each other. Swapping the two key attacking weapons (and their styles) could create imbalances that might shift the balance of play.

The teams. I don't really care about the players.

Messi getting spoon fed for 90 mins against our high defensive line... its going to be a massacre.

That depends if you got a dog or a cat. I would suggest you to buy 3 cans of cat food instead of 5, because it will get fat and unhealthy. Not to mention the blood pressure would be too big, causing the mouse to die.

So yes, go for the dog and not the fish.

Seriously? Barca would get hammered to a pulp.
