As if winning five titles in 2015 wasn’t enough, among the litany of other achievements won by FC Barcelona and its players, Lionel Messi added one more feat to his myriad accomplishments by appearing in his 500th career game for the club. And he did it in front of the home fans on Wednesday night against Real Betis, marking the occasion by scoring the second in a 4-0 victory over the Andalusians. Messi is in sixth place on the Barça’s all-time list of games played.
Messi has also won a club record 26 titles — the same number as teammate Andrés Iniesta — including 7 La Liga championships, 4 Champions Leagues, 3 Copas del Rey, 3 UEFA Super Cups, 6 Spanish Super Cups, and 3 FIFA Club World Cups.
Those triumphs have allowed the Argentine to be named the Ballon d'Or on four consecutives occasions between 2009 and 2012 and this year he has sights set on a fifth. Furthemore, the Barça number 10 is the record goalscorer in the Spanish League with 292 goals out of a total of 425 for FC Barcelona, not forgetting his record of 21 goals in the Clásico.
