I like Merino but wouldn't want Barca to pay that much for him. Will probably be worth it for Arsenal in their situation though.

He'll be well worth that money for Arsenal. Doesn't matter if he's free in a year as they need him now and can afford him comfortably. He'll also add some maturity with his age. Can't just have 23 year olds.

Quick look down Arsenal sales and they have only done one, Skid Rowe to Fulham for over 30m.

So yeah, if Merino for 30m gets them the EPL, it is money well vested.

I think that's probably the biggest deficiency in our scouting and signings. A lack of getting in this oversupply of British and French wide men and forwards that under a bit of LaMasia and a few first team games, would be incredibly sellable.

Ya for them and EPL clubs. For us being close to broke, I think it's overpriced.
2 years from now, and hopefully our finances gets better and then 40m for a CDM is a steal.
