Aah, thanks for the explanation. There are a couple of things you said that I did not know of myself, so I have definitely learned a thing or two. I usually buy replica's because I just find authentic jerseys to be too expensive.

Same here. For money reasons and simply because I am too fat to wear the slim-fit authentic jerseys, it simply doesn't look good.

Thanks. I guess the description of these shirts is not really accurate on some websites so it's hard to distinguish them.

For example, I'm looking to buy an Argentina shirt and on sportsdirect.com it says "Home Shirt 2014" for the one that costs 45 pounds and the replica one is supposedly 28 pounds. Now surely the more expensive one is the actual "replica" and the cheaper is another notch down (perhaps the stadium shirt) as you described it?

I see. If you look at the pictures, the 28-pound one is different from the 45-pound jersey. The one selling for 28 pounds is really not a jersey, it is more of a T-shirt that resembles the home jersey. The one that is selling for 45 pounds is the official replica jersey.

Yeah I figured. Thanks a lot.

As to stadium jerseys, I have only heard of them but never bought one myself, I suppose they are one notch down even from the replica jerseys? Perhaps by using even cheaper materials and without some of the details on the replica jerseys. I generally avoid these.

You're right. Can't say anything about the materials, but the stadium jerseys lack some details. For example the 2013/14 stadium jersey has different sleeves than the replica/authentic (no fading stripes) and no LFP patch. The price difference between stadium and replica jerseys weren't that much, at least here in Germany. If money is an issue, there are usually some discounts once the season started.

I'd be curious what the actual differences between the authentic and the actual player issue shirts are (once you have time).

Stadium shirt is an ambiguous term for a shirt. Usually it's used for the replica version ( the 45 pounds one ) while the authentic one is something like "player shirt" "player issue" or simply authentic.
In sportsirect's case, I dunno what the stadium shirt is, probably a rare cheap version I don't see on sale on Adidas.com or the WC 2014 store, my bet is that they just market it as "replica" to trick people into buying it but the actual replica is the one named 'adidas Argentina Home Shirt 2014' and costs 44.99.
And also, they don't sell authentics at all.

My question would be. Is Sportsdirect 100% safe to buy from? I mean the replica costs 45 quid when on other stores ( that I'm sure they're good ) it's 55-57 quid. I would buy the Argentina Home or Away but not sure bout the fairness of SD especially since they sell lots of unofficial stuff made by no names, just see Spain's NT page, they have a lot of things who look backyard made.

Your wish is my command. :p

It really depends on the brand and team (to a lesser degree) that you are talking about. Take the new Germany jersey as an example since my friend you are from Deutschland. :) The new Adidas Adizero Germany 14/15 player issue home jersey that is sold in the stores is EXACTLY the same as the ones Die Nationalmannschaft players will be wearing in the upcoming WC (design, cut, fabric-wise, they are 100% the same), with one TINY MINI exception: The sizing system used. The Adizero Germany jerseys you buy in the stores are sized in the traditional S-XL way while the true match-issued ones used by the German players are sized using the 6-10 system. Other than this one little detail, there is literally no difference at all.

However, if we take our beloved Nike Barca jersey as an example, there is a bit more: The authentic Barca player jerseys you buy in the stores have one extra piece of fabric/cloth sewn onto the jersey, behind the back of your neck, cut in a half oval shape (see here), with the DRI-FIT label, the size and "Made in Thailand" printed on it. This is not featured on the true Barca match-issued jerseys that our beloved Messi, Iniesta and others wear. For their match-issued jerseys, there is only one piece of fabric for the whole back panel, the size and "Made in Thailand" is printed on the same piece, therefore you don't see the extra arch seam you see here. I am not sure if I made myself understood.

In addition, while the wash tags (those tags sewn to the inside seam of the jersey showing the content of the fabric used, 100% polyester etc. and washing and ironing instructions) on the commercially available Barca player-issue jerseys are just like the ones on the replica jersey, the true Barca match-issued jerseys have the abbrivated wash tag info printed on the inner side of the jersey itself so it eliminates the possibilities of the wash tags irritating the players in action. This is an unique Nike feature, as far as I know.

Again, hope this helps. Let me know if I need to clarify more.

I have never heard of Sportsdirect before so I don't really know if they are 100% legit. If you are going to buy jerseys from the UK anyway, you might as well try the more well-known vendors such as Subsidesports.com/uk, Kitbag.com and prodirectsoccer.com.

I bought the Barca home jersey at a local store, the away one at sportsdirect and the third kit at kitbag; and as far as I can tell, they're all the same. Some jerseys cost more on sportsdirect while others cost less. Argentina and Spain home jersey cost 5 pounds more on kitbag than on sportsdirect so I think there's no difference.

Thank you, it's all clarified now.

I know the adidas number sizing, they used the same sizing with their Tech fit jerseys. Good to know the minor differences on the Barca jersey as well.

The material is clearly light and pleasant too, in comparison to my old Adidas shirts ( also Spain 06, 08 ) and makes the M so better.

Good to hear, so you feel cooler in it? Since I moved to a new climate, my old Spain top is a little too thick for the weather.

Yes, it's better. But mind that I don't have Spain's latest shirts from Conf 2013, Euro 12 and so on till Euro 08 and WC 06.
As Luftstalag14 said, the authentic ones are even lighter but cost more and are practically the same as Xavi and Iniesta will wear at the World Cup.
I heard many people who bought authentic Adidas ones said they wear an undershirt because you can see underneath them, probably a bigger problem when it comes tot the Germany white shirt.

Haha, Paul, it is not that bad. The new Adizero jersey is extremely thin and light, but it is definitely not see-through. I have the Germany one. As long as you get the right size that fits you, your man-boobs won't show.

I just read the reviews on Adidas.com ( shop ) ( see the second for example ).
The shirt being white and thin I guess the skin tone also plays a role there, if it's that, in my case it shouldn't be a problem but it might show some body hair  :pep:.

I have the newest home kit and have to say I like it very much :) Good fabric, good fit and a nice design. One thing was actually quite interesting: the density of the blue and red parts differ. The red parts seem to be a bit more 'open'.
