"He'd be a perfect strategic marketing operation," enthused Barca financial director Javier Faus.

"But Barca always prioritizes the sport over economics. As (sports director Andoni) Zubizarreta said, Neymar is a Santos player until 2014 so we have nothing more to say."

Neymar's potential as a marketing tool is no secret. Now that Barca has been on top for a few years now, and we have Messi, the marketing aspect of Neymar probably carries less weight..even though he WOULD sell a ton of shirts!

It was a factor when we signed Ronaldinho, but at the time we were going through transformation. With Neymar it's all about what he can offer among this current squad, and if he would function to his full potential. I tend to think he would, if we offload a forward or two first.

Do you guys really want to ruin Messis spotlight, again? Neymar is too big of a name.

Barcelona is a huge collective+Messi, and obviously that works out. Take it and run!

I'm a bit surprised that Neymar has only scored 12 goals in 36 league games... It makes him the joint 6:th top scorer, 5 goals behind Luís Fabiano and 7 behind the top scorer, Fred. Ronaldinho has scored 10.

Edit: Neymar's wikipedia page says that he's scored 12 goals in 14 games... but according to the Brazilian FA's site there's been 36 games already... Has he really missed about 20 games?

Yeah, he's going nowadays more of the Pele route, pawning 2nd and 3rd division teams with Santos, and touring with Brazil in Harlem Globetrotters style.

He missed some matches, due to the olympics and the nt, but I doubt it was that much.
Edit: I checked and that is right. He missed 20 games.
