Lol...suddenly, Nico is no longer the messiah on Barcaforum.

This may he very unpoular but dont care. Not the one for the mob/herd thinking thing and certainly not here to garner likes/friends.

When some myopic Barca fans were creaming themselves over Nico after the defeat of Barca at the 2024 CDR, i then took interest in wacthing him in details to see his fit and what he was about. Even with all the Euro hype, and while the whole forum was hallucinating, I called it out(several pages behind) that 1. He was not going to be a good fit for Barca and 2. Hype aside, he was not worth the the 60m especially for a broke club 3. He was not coming.......let me leave the replies then to your imagination.

From all the realistic options mentioned here so far(forget about Sane,Musialia or Kva because they're just pipe dreams...current Barca cant afford them in transfers and salaries) Mitoma and Lookman are a better fit....I guess they aren't popular choices for some other non football reasons. Whether they turn out to be a huge success at Barca is another conversation on its own.....but they have more skill set and styles to play in different formations/positions than Nico, his current hype notwithstanding

.......and i really like Nico as player, just dont think he has that exceptional traits to be more than what other much maligned wingers like Dembele or Depay were here....decent.!!

Wtf is going on? Not only in Barca, but everybody getting injured.
Too many games, all these guys just came off a full club season of 50+ games then had to hit a major tournament then a couple weeks rest and back to the club season.

It may sound like bitching from millionaires but they seriously should try to go on strike or figure something out or else this generation of players is gonna last less than 10 years. At the rate things are going these guys are gonna be record holders for matches played.

it’s AZ guys…
We've seen him do it many times vs bigger clubs. His form drops sometimes but he is the guy tbh. The real question is whether we really need him at all now that Raphinha is performing like crazy and we bought Olmo for number 10. If Rapha's form drops then we should be in for Nico.

But to be honest, some squad depth wouldn't be bad either. Nico can play LW and Raphinha RW in matches where we rest Lamine. Or Rapha can play central and Nico LW when Olmo is rested (or injured, which he quite frequently is).

If it's still 60m then we should get him.

During a 4-way video call in early August between Laporta in Baltimore, Deco in Porto, Nico's agent in Pamplona, and Nico Williams in Marbella, Nico Williams gave Laporta the 'yes'. Before that, in a long meeting at a hotel in Zaragoza, the player's agent and Deco met face-to-face. During that meeting, the contract terms were agreed upon, and several important points were discussed. At Barça, the mood was very optimistic. In fact, several directors believed the signing practically guaranteed. Nico then reported to training at Lezama, one week earlier than expected. Barça’s directors still trusted Williams’ word, even though the sight of him with the number 10 jersey dashed Laporta’s dreams of seeing Nico Williams in a Barça shirt. In the end the player chose to stay. Via:

Barca shouldn't embarrass themselves and run after a player for several seasons like Madrid did with Mbappe. He didn't want to come, it's fine. If Rapha continues to play like this, we don't need Nico.
